About the Team:
The Corporate Solutions Claims unit is a hardworking group of claims professionals who seek to understand and meet the needs of our insureds and brokers by providing the highest quality of customer service. The NA Credit and Surety claims team consists of highly skilled individuals, including attorneys and MBA degreed professionals. The team works closely with each other to handle a large case load and execute on the overall Claims Commitment – to continue delighting clients and brokers and differentiating Swiss Re Corporate Solutions as a commercial insurer of choice.

About the Role:
Are you passionate about protecting our clients and experienced in managing surety claims? Are you excited to work with a collaborative team of insurance professionals committed to growing the business? This is a great opportunity to work in a core line of business within Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.

We are looking for an Expert to manage assigned claims, including the investigation and resolution of commercial, customs and other bond claims. As a member of the team, your specific responsibilities will include: 

  • Maximizing the collection of salvage and recovery
  • Managing litigation in order to achieve division objectives
  • Reviewing construction contracts and providing white paper analysis for underwriters, agents and contractors
  • Managing claims within designated region
  • Evaluating, analyzing and resolving claims and salvage issues within authority
  • Establishing, adjusting, and maintaining sufficient, accurate and reasonable loss and loss adjustment expense case reserves per reserving guidelines
  • Overseeing and managing the services of attorneys, accountants, third party administrators, and other consultants
  • Resolving disputes
  • Maximizing the value of the loss adjustment expenses incurred 
  • Providing world-class service to the underwriters and agents within assigned region
  • Leading and collaborating on various projects
  • Coaching and mentoring other team members. 

 

Overall, the team's focus is on the insured as the center of everything we do with: open and regular communication including explanation of the claims process and what to expect going forward, working together to develop the appropriate management and resolution strategy for each claim, taking into consideration the insured's business needs and resolution objectives, being open to discussion of the insured's desires and concerns, and being mindful of the insured's (and brokers' and agents') perspective.

About You:

  • JD degree required. BS/BA/BBA degree in business discipline preferred.
  • 10 years' experience handling complex contract surety claims, including construction contract review and negotiation on behalf of contractors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally as needed.
