About the Team:

The NA Credit and Surety claims team consists of highly skilled individuals, including attorneys and MBA degreed professionals. The team works closely with each other to handle a large case load and provide world-class service to stakeholders. The team is part of the Swiss Re Corporate Solutions claims team, which consists of other insurance disciplines such as Property, Casualty, Accident and Health, and many others.

About the Role:

Manage assigned claims, including the investigation and resolution of contract and commercial bond claims. Responsibilities include:

  • Maximizing the collection of salvage and recovery.
  • Managing litigation in order to achieve division objectives.
  • Reviewing construction contracts and providing white paper analysis for underwriters, agents, and contractors.
  • Managing claims within designated region.
  • Evaluating, analyzing and resolving claims and salvage issues within authority given by claims head.
  • Establishing adjusting and maintaining as necessary sufficient, accurate and reasonable loss and loss adjustment expense case reserves per reserving guidelines.
  • Preparing various reports on files and trends as needed.
  • Overseeing and managing the services of attorneys, accountants, third party administrators, engineers and other consultants.
  • Resolving disputes.
  • Maximizing the value of the loss adjustment expenses incurred.
  • Providing world-class service to the underwriters and agents within assigned region.
  • Working on various projects as needed.
  • Coaching and mentoring team members.

About You:

  • BS/BA/BBA degree in business discipline preferred. JD degree required.
  • 10 years experience handling complex contract surety claims, including construction contract review and negotiation on behalf of contractors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills required.

Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
