About the Team: 

The NA Credit and Surety claims team consists of highly skilled individuals, including attorneys and MBA degreed professionals. The team works closely with each other to handle a large case load and provide world-class service to stakeholders. The team is part of the Swiss Re Corporate Solutions claims team, which consists of other insurance disciplines such as Property, Casualty, Accident and Health, and many others. 

About the Role: 

Manage assigned claims, including the investigation and resolution of commercial, customs and other bond claims. Responsibilities include: 

  • Maximize the collection of salvage and recovery. 

  • Manage litigation in order to achieve division objectives. 

  • Review bonds, statutes and contracts during claims investigation. 

  • Evaluate, analyze and resolve claims and salvage issues within authority given by claims head. 

  • Establish, adjust, and maintain sufficient, accurate and reasonable loss and loss adjustment expense case reserves per reserving guidelines. 

  • Provide various reports on files and trends as needed. 

  • Oversee and manage the services of attorneys, accountants, third party administrators, and other consultants. 

  • Resolve disputes. 

  • Maximize the value of the loss adjustment expenses incurred. 

  • Provide world-class service to the underwriters and agents within assigned region. 

  • Lead and collaborate on various projects as needed. 

  • Coach and mentor team members. 

About You 

  • BS/BA/BBA degree in business discipline preferred. 

  • 5-10 years experience handling surety claims in the commercial, contract, and or customs claims arena. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with strong analytical and interpersonal skills. 

  • Strong negotiation skills required. 

Ability and willingness to travel occasionally as needed.
