We are looking for a colleague who is passionate about providing a holistic client management approach to be part of the South Korea Client Underwriter Team. The overall aim of the Team is to anticipate and seek opportunities for new business and earnings growth through management of our clients. You will proactively work with the Team to manage retention and growth of existing business, management of customer issues.
In addition, this role is responsible to handle the day-to-day operation of the P&C transactions business (e.g. P&C run off portfolio) which are underwritten out from the Swiss Re Korea Branch.
General Job Outline: Client Underwriter (CU)
Being a Client Underwriter in developing Swiss Re’s business and relationship with assigned clients including marketing, underwriting, administration, claims handling and technical and financial accounting which aims to achieve the Business Unit Strategic and Financial Objectives of the South Korea P&C Client Underwriter team.
- Growing & maintaining good relationships and servicing of assigned clients & markets
- Closely monitor the market developments
- Support the Senior Client Underwriters to manage the cross functional teams to effectively deliver the appropriate suite of SR solutions
- Underwriting selected treaties according to risk quality, risk appetite and group guidelines

- Execute the agreed marketing objectives, strategies, and business plans, which return appropriate premium and profitability targets, are pro-actively developed, updated, implemented and communicated internally and externally.
- To raise, maintain and enhance the leading profile of Swiss Re within the allocated markets.
- To underwrite in compliance with the appropriate guidelines and conforming with best practice, within allocated underwriting authorities
Professional Development
- Maintains sufficient level knowledge of the insurance and reinsurance industry and the legal and economic and social environment in allocated markets in which the clients operate.
- Maintains awareness of broad trends in key product areas in which the clients operate, and of developments/initiatives in Swiss Re related to those product areas.
- Maintains an appropriate level of technical expertise, such that clients respect and use Swiss Re expertise and appropriate underwriting decisions are assured.
- Maintains a sufficient level of financial and analytical capabilities.
External client service

- Develops, maintains contacts and drives the ongoing development of relationships especially with the working management levels with clients (e.g. reinsurance, underwriting, marketing departments).
- To prepare the materials/presentations for the discussions with clients and brokers relevant to their perceived needs in order to develop and implement appropriate reinsurance solutions.
- Keep tracking and communicates industry/sector/environment developments which helps the team to raises these topics for discussion with clients and brokers in conjunction with a considered viewpoint on opportunities/threats to clients for such developments and how Swiss Re may be able to assist.
- Coordinates & schedule regular catch ups with the appropriate Cross Functional Team to ensure that Swiss Re delivers value to the client.
About You:
- Outgoing and commercially minded personality
- Motivation and drive to develop and execute on business opportunities for Swiss Re
- Good business judgement
- 5 Years or above experience in the P&C insurance and/or reinsurance industry.
- Relevant professional background/qualifications/University business degree/Actuarial training would be advantageous.
- Good communication skills
- Team player
- Languages: Proficient English & Native Korean
