About the Role

•    Originate and underwrite profitable Financial Lines products as per Business plan targets
•    Work closely with Senior underwriters in the region to enhance UW technical skill in Financial Lines 
•    Ensuring the sustainable and profitable growth of Bespoke Financial Lines portfolio through maintaining our quality renewal business and seek for profitable growth in Financial Lines new business pipelines, based on portfolio deal economics, market intelligence, R&D insight, solid and robust pipeline management, legal development and emerging risks.
•    Consistently demonstrates good level of risk assessment and underwrite business in accordance with GC Financial Lines profitability targets, underwriting guidelines and processes and within stated authorities. 
•    Delivering solid and constructive underwriting decisions within agreed processes at the designated authority level to secure profitable business within the agreed risk appetite. Ensuring integrity of information on the relevant underwriting systems and guidelines by delivering sound and reasonable underwriting judgments within agreed processes at the designated authority level to secure profitable business within the agreed risk appetite

•    Good level of proficiently use insurance related systems (Manhattan, UW Cockpit and CorFlow, UWB, ….etc);

•    Works collaboratively and cross-functionally with any relevant functional groups/committee as assigned across our business in Shanghai, Beijing, Jiangsu, Hong Kong and wider China to ensure any business initiatives and related business matters are in accordance to underwriting and regulatory regime. 

•    Accountable to implement the GC FinPro strategies and collaboratively work closely with Hong Kong FinPro team by sharing ideas, beliefs information and technical knowledge..

•    Provide products trainings or promotion to trading partners, customers and internal counterparts, when necessary
•    Maintain quality business relationship with trading partners increasing SRCS China market presence and brand building
•    Manage timely and accurately preparation of reports business strategy plan 
•    Manage expenses according to plan

 

About the Team

This position report to Head Casualty FinPro Greater China, responsible for managing a P&L including originating a flow of new business and quality revenue growth in line with agreed business strategy and performance targets. 

•    Well maintain the existing Financial lines portfolio including renewal retentions and originating new business to achieve portfolio performance as per business plan 
•    Underwrite and grow profitable Financial Lines in accordance with China Finpro Strategy and CorSo Risk Appetite with portfolio management mindset
•    Proactively work with Head Casualty FinPro Greater China and and Customer Distribution Community to identify and develop new business trading channels and solid pipelines in accordance to Target Industry and Products segments.
•    Works collaboratively and cross-functionally to provide bespoke insurance solutions, industry and customer insights to meet customer needs

•    Being a Market Facing Underwriter, proactively work with business trading partners to originate business pipelines, building and strengthen trading relationship to deliver top quality of our underwriting services. 
•    Get familiar with the market development, and understand our internal statistics, UW measurement as well as working closely relevant internal/external stakeholders and business operation teams to trade business effectively and efficiently 
•    Agility and able to embrace new ways of workings and willingly to undertake additional tasks and projects in support of the overall objectives of Greater China Casualty & Financial Lines community

 

About You

Educational background
University degree or above

 

Professional experience
•    2-4 years' experience in Financial lines underwriting or Accounting background. Working for international/global companies would be a plus.
•    Knowledge and understanding of Financial lines or Casualty insurance principles and practices 
•    Understand and anticipate future moves of markets, legal landscape and competitors
