About the Role:

The main responsibilities are:

- Achieve business and financial targets as per approved SME Casualty Plan for assigned channels.

- Technically assess and underwrite business in accordance with Corso China profitability targets, underwriting guidelines and processes and within stated authorities.

- Ensure the integrity of information on the relevant systems and underwriting is in accordance to underwriting guidelines, limits and pricing/rating procedures.

- Reviewing non-standard case referrals and deliver underwriting decisions, following agreed processes at the designated authority level, in order to secure profitable business within the agreed risk appetite.

- Actively contributing to the development of segment and local customer propositions, and associated sales planning and account development, bringing knowledge and insight of the market and its risks, proactively identifying opportunities to increase penetration of existing customers and/or expand the business mix.  

- Independently and proactively undertake marketing/business generation activities with brokers, corporate clients and cedants allocated to you.

- Work closely with cross functional colleagues e.g. Property and Specialty, Sales, etc to cross-sell, grow new business and leverage Swiss Re Corporate Solution's position.

- Willingly undertake additional tasks and projects in support of the overall objectives.

- Maintain a high market profile and contribute to CorSo's brand and reputation in China.

- Accurately report progress against plan in accordance with the company's reporting framework and on an ad hoc basis as required.


The accountabilities & major functions are:

- Underwrite and execute profitable liability business

- Maintain a high level of technical expertise and uses this to grow the portfolio

- Provide timely and appropriate service

- Ensure all underwriting is in line with underwriting authorities and corporate governance rules

- Work with cross functional teams in development and execution of business

- Takes a holistic client team approach

- Good team player, while being self-directed

- Pro-actively implements own strategies and marketing plans

- Pro-actively develop and strengthen client relationship with a view to enlarging business opportunities

- Ensure the integrity of data in the relevant information, pricing and analysis systems

- Ensure timely entry of transactions into all relevant systems

- Manage the timely and accurate preparation of documentation

- Prepare accurate figures for finance projections and other portfolio reporting functions

- Ensure the expense plan for the position is managed in accordance with expectations

- Is a role model and provides technical coaching support to Junior Underwriters


About the Team:

The incumbent will be part of the Swiss Re Corporate Solutions global underwriting team.Your primary focus will be to develop and underwrite profitable SME casualty business (General Liability, Employer's Liability, Product Liability) in line with agreed business strategy and performance targets. You will deal with channels on a one to one basis to drive the casualty business, generate profitability and ensure the top quality delivery of our underwriting services.


About You:

-  University degree; CPCU or CII holder would be a plus

 - At least 5 years' experience in underwriting General Liability, ideally working for international/global insurance companies would be a plus

- Sound knowledge of Casualty Products

- Sound understanding of insurance market and the competition landscape

- Demonstrated ability to deliver on growth targets

- Demonstrated client relationship management abilities

- Ability to work independently and under pressure but with a strong team orientation

- Self-motivating, preparedness to take ownership

- Problem solving capability

- Well organized with disciplined time management skills

- High level of computer literacy

- Fluent oral and written knowledge of English and Mandarin
