Actuarial Valuation & Modelling Intern

About the Role:

 

This is a key regional role responsible for L&H Valuation Asia actuarial onboarding of both in-force and new business into the valuation model/system landscape.  The role is also expected to support the quarterly Valuation reporting tasks for Southeast Asia (SEA) market and Swiss Re Asia Limited (SRAL).

 

The role and responsibilities include working closely with the Asia Valuation modelling team to improve the model efficiency, such as:

  • Review the existing assumptions and data setup, suggest and implement a more standardized setup
  • Remove any redundant and unused setup
  • Replace model simplifications or workaround with relevant functionalities which are available today
  • Develop and implement process automation
  • Support new model onboarding and model changes

 

Additionally, the role is also expected to work closely with the SEA and SRAL Valuation reporting team, such as:

  • Support the reporting actuaries on internal quarterly Economic Value and USGAAP submissions
  • Develop and implement automation on the processes to increase reporting efficiency
  • Interact with other members in different functions, such as Finance and Pricing team, on reporting-related queries

 

About the Team:

 

The L&H Valuation Asia is responsible for actuarial valuation, reporting and analysis for all reinsurance business written in Asia. The L&H Valuation Asia function resides within the L&H Reinsurance Risk Management division.

 

About You:

 

  • An undergraduate majoring in Actuarial Science or its equivalent;
  • Direct experience with VBA, Power BI, Python, R, would be considered an advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to work together and effectively with different functional team members of varied backgrounds;
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • The internship duration will be 1.5 to 2 months (beginning May/June)
