FP&A Analyst

About the Role: 

The Financial Analyst position provides you with the opportunity to become a key business partner to the L&H Asia business by supporting our business leaders in managing and steering their respective portfolios. We need a team member who can develop a deep understanding of the business to enable them to identify, communicate the drivers of financial performance and support in producing a financial Plan that reflects the businesses strategic ambition.  Your responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating quarterly L&H forecasts, review and present insightful analysis of the IFRS financials to business leaders, communicate key business trends and underlying performance comparing prior periods and plan.
  • Review KPI reports and identifying significant variances, and actively provide up-to-date IFRS KPI to stakeholders. Detailed understanding of the drivers of financial results/IFRS KPI, gain through working closely across various functions (Reporting & Controlling team, Valuation, Pricing team).
  • Together with the team, lead and support on annual business planning. Work with Client market and Pricing team to develop country plan target based on revenue/earnings performance and future investments/considerations. Developing budget packs designed to drive the clear communication of business plans strategy for growing the business and financial outcomes. Build the plan with collaboration across Finance and other functions.
  • Represent Finance and participate in country meetings. Provide insights into the financial and KPIs. Work closely with the business in strategic topic or project. (Eg. Participate in quarterly Heads-Up Log meetings and work with V&A to actively manage volatility from assumption updates)
  • Assist to facilitate change activities as required for IFRS17 implementation for Finance, by having full understanding on the flow of the end-to-end business and finance operations, ledger closing and financial reporting (e.g., New Business and Business Plan). Review and challenge business assumptions used in the quarterly/annual business planning process.
  • Work closely with the team and senior leaders to develop business cases surrounding structures solution/transaction review including IFRS accounting assessment and linkage to P&L/B&S performance.

 

About You:

  • University degree, a background that will includes elements of Accounting, Finance, Business, Mathematics, financial modelling or actuarial sciences
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience, good knowledge of insurance/reinsurance business and performance drivers
  • Strong understanding of multi-valuation concepts, in particular IFRS 17/9
  • Outstanding analytical skills and commercial approach, keen to develop convincing storylines
  • High degree of curiosity and flexibility to thrive in a global and dynamic business environment across all lines of business and regions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Team player with high degree of personal accountability and ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and deliver results within time constraints
  • Strong computing and data management skills, knowledge of multiple financial systems and programming languages are considered a plus
     

About the team:

The successful candidate will join the L&H Reinsurance FP&A Asia team. This makes it the go-to function for the region for all questions regarding performance management, financial steering and reporting and provides advisory on growth initiatives, transactions, and other business priorities. The team is part of the Finance L&H Re and works closely with client managers, pricing, valuation and other teams in Finance and the wider Swiss Re organization. Our diverse team support business partners, who are spread across offices throughout the Asia region, making the ability to collaborate remotely an important skill for this position
