As our Graduate Underwriter, you will build a strong foundation in Facultative underwriting and client management, with the opportunity to advance into a professional role in Property / Casualty Facultative underwriting and business origination. About The Role

As our Graduate and future underwriting professional, you will work right at the heart of our P&C Facultative Reinsurance business, handling single risks underwriting and interacting with our clients and brokers in Southeast Asia. You will contribute to underwriting and business development, support growth initiatives, and collaborate with diverse teams across the Asia Pacific Facultative underwriting network.  

You will join our Singapore P&C Facultative Underwriting to support our ambitious growth strategy in Southeast Asia markets. You will be executing our Go-To-Market and Underwriting strategies whilst promoting our presence and solutions to brokers and clients. You will also get exposure to other Asia Pacific markets through supporting peak renewals and 4-eye consultations.

In your role as a Graduate Underwriter, you will:

  • Actively take part in single risk underwriting and client servicing in Singapore and Southeast Asia, with added support to other markets in Asia Pacific markets as needed.
  • Obtain basic Property and/or Casualty & Financial Lines Facultative underwriting authority to independently handle simple to moderately complex risks at the end of the training programme.
  • Develop foundational product knowledge, exposure and risk assessment and costing & pricing, supporting underwriters in these areas.
  • Support senior underwriters on complex underwriting tasks and portfolio management.
  • Collaborate with brokers, clients, and other internal stakeholders to support the business.
  • Help with market-facing activities, including client and broker events, meetings, trainings, business origination and pipeline development.
  • Support daily operations and client servicing of SwiftRe®, Swiss Re's innovative end-to-end global digital platform for small and medium industrial and commercial businesses.
  • Contribute to projects including AI, business processes improvement, data analytics and portfolio management.
  • Play an active role in growth and efficiency initiatives and execution.

By working directly in the business, you will gain hands-on experience in Property / Casualty single risks underwriting​, business origination, client management, claims handling, portfolio steering​, and data analytics​. You will spend most of your time in the business unit working with amazing and experienced colleagues. You will have a mentor at your side helping you to navigate through professional situations and exciting challenges.

You will report to the Head P&C Facultative Asia Pacific based in Singapore or a Team Head as assigned.

During the Graduates Programme you will join our P&C Facultative Underwriting in Singapore, focusing on Property and Casualty & Financial Lines, across the diverse and fast-growing Southeast Asia markets. Our teams are energetic, collaborative, professional, and entrepreneurial, dedicated to excellence and innovation.

You will be part of the wider Asia Pacific P&C Facultative Underwriting community, spanning Japan, Korea to Greater China, Southeast Asia, India and Australia and New Zealand. Together, we share the common vision of growing our facultative business across the region. The Asia Pacific P&C Facultative unit is part of Swiss Re's SID P&C Reinsurance Market Unit which is embedded within the global P&C Reinsurance division- the largest business unit of Swiss Re and split in 3 lines of business: Property, Casualty, and Specialty (incl. Facultative).
