About the Role

 

Reporting to the Market Head of L&H SEA and India, the candidate will lead the L&H SEA Pricing and Pricing Insights teams responsible for the pricing and assumptions setting of L&H business written in South East Asia and act as an important business partner for SEA's L&H business. This role requires strong leadership, good understanding of our risk landscape, technical and financial acumen and strategic mindset.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage the production and review of pricing bases for all lines of business
  • Maintain the technical sufficiency of all business written
  • Plan and monitor preparation and delivery of all new business quotes and tenders
  • Monitor and determine adequacy of pricing of all open treaties
  • Prioritize and undertake pricing/review of all treaty referrals
  • Ensure the E2E experience study and assumption update process is effective
  • Support in-force business repricing and solutions
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Build pricing framework for new product development activities
  • Participate in the development of new business financial targets and marketing plans
  • Liaise with L&H Chief UW Office teams on pricing of business
  • Lead and develop a team of actuaries and analysts
  • Build a strong, capable, and highly motivated Pricing and Pricing Insights teams with a focus on talent development
  • Strive for continuous improvement of efficiency and accuracy of experience studies and pricing processes.

 

About the Team

 

The Pricing team consists of ~18 members located in 3 different offices across Asia: Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangalore. Together the team look after the most fragmented and diverse markets in Asia, covering developed insurance markets like Singapore, as well as high growth markets as India and Indonesia. Each market demands different levels of complexity of business solutions with different regulatory regimes.

 

About You

 

  • A qualified actuary with 15+ years of actuarial experience
  • Strong strategic mind-set, with strong vision of the business direction
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
  • Proven leadership skills and strong negotiation skills
  • Ability and courage to constructively challenge strategic business propositions, but also the business mind-set focusing on total account performance oriented
  • Strong experience in both direct and reinsurance pricing
  • Deep understanding of local valuation knowledge and regulatory requirements
  • Able to develop, retain and align talent with the business strategy and execution of business priorities.
