This includes embedding the “Swiss Re Way of Handling Claims”, advancing AI-enabled Claims capabilities, strengthening Claims insights and fostering a high-performance, future-ready Claims organisation across the SID region.

 

About the Role

As Head P&C Claims SID, you will be the driving force behind Property & Casualty Claims management across the South East Asia, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea (SID) region. This is a high-visibility leadership role where you will set the strategic direction for Claims, champion Swiss Re's value proposition with key clients and partners, and lead a talented team of Claims professionals across multiple markets. You will be a key member of the SID Leadership Team, contributing both functional expertise and broader business insight to support Swiss Re’s strategic objectives in the region. In this role, you will shape the regional Claims strategy, strengthen Swiss Re’s market presence and lead a high-performing team of Claims professionals across diverse geographies and cultures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the SID P&C Claims team: Manage, mentor and inspire a team of experienced Claims experts across South East Asia, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning and high performance.
  • Oversee the P&C Claims portfolio across the SID region: drive strategy on large and complex Claims, ensure the right Claims are paid, maintain consistency and adequacy of case reserves, and deliver timely and accurate reporting at both individual and portfolio level.
  • Shape and implement the P&C Claims strategy for the SID region in alignment with key stakeholders and Swiss Re's overall business strategy; stay ahead of market trends, regulatory developments and emerging risks across the region's diverse markets.
  • Build and nurture a strong regional network: Represent Swiss Re with clients, brokers, cedants and industry bodies across the SID region, providing thought leadership on topics that shape the industry and Swiss Re's strategic positioning.
  • Drive client-centric initiatives: Lead impactful Claims-related projects that reinforce Swiss Re's value proposition, supporting business development and deepening client relationships across all segments.
  • Maintain a robust feedback loop between the SID Market Unit, Global Claims, the Centre of Excellence Claims, Underwriters, Risk Management, Finance and other key functions; ensure Claims strategies are fully embedded in business plans.
  • Provide strong advocacy for P&C Claims matters at market forums, client interactions and relevant industry bodies across the SID region.
  • Oversee Governance and Compliance: Review, coordinate and ensure adherence to governance and compliance requirements across the SID Claims function, in line with local regulatory frameworks.
  • AI, Innovation & Operational Excellence: Drive the embedding of AI-enabled capabilities and MVP-based innovation initiatives within the Claims function to enhance efficiency, decision-making and client outcomes, while supporting the evolution of the P&C Re Claims Target Operating Model and workforce strategy in response to AI and digital transformation opportunities. The role will foster a strong culture of operational risk ownership through effective risk identification, controls management and continuous improvement, while ensuring consistent execution excellence, high-quality delivery and adherence to operational standards across the Claims value chain.

About the Team

Our SID Claims team is a dynamic group of highly knowledgeable and experienced Claims professionals, bringing together diverse backgrounds, expertise and perspectives from across South East Asia, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea. The team is embedded within the broader SID Market Unit, working closely with underwriters and risk managers to deliver outstanding Claims outcomes and reinforce Swiss Re's reputation as a trusted partner in the region.

As Head of P&C Claims SID, you will report directly to the Market Unit Head of SID and will be an integral member of the SID Leadership Team. In this capacity, you will contribute meaningfully to regional strategy, leadership and functional direction, as well as bringing broader market and business insights that help shape Swiss Re's presence and growth across this vibrant and diverse region.

About You

We are looking for an inspiring and credible leader with a strong technical foundation in P&C Claims and a genuine passion for people, clients and markets. You lead by example, embody Swiss Re's corporate values in everything you do, and bring a self-confident, curious and collaborative approach to your work. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, complexity, engaging senior stakeholders, and driving change across culturally diverse teams and markets.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • At least 10 years of experience in P&C re/insurance Claims management, with a strong track record in portfolio-based claim handling and an excellent understanding of markets, products, trends and developments — ideally with exposure to the SID region.
  • Proven leadership capability: demonstrated experience managing and developing teams of experts across diverse cultures, geographies and backgrounds, with the ability to align talent with strategic goals and inspire transformation.
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen: solid understanding of reserving principles, financial reporting and portfolio performance, with the ability to take a holistic view and initiate appropriate action.

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Regional market knowledge: familiarity with the regulatory, legal and market environments across South East Asia, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan and/or Korea.
  • Executive-level stakeholder engagement: experience representing a (re)insurer at senior and executive management level with clients, brokers and industry bodies.
  • Cross-functional collaboration skills: ability to connect the dots across markets and functions, building effective working relationships with underwriting, risk management, finance and other teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: a motivational communicator and coach who promotes teamwork, knowledge sharing and cooperation across teams and functions.
  • Experience managing complex or challenging Claims situations with composure, sound judgment and a solution-oriented mindset.
