Head Property & Casualty Facultative APAC
Position Summary
The Head of Property & Casualty Facultative Asia Pacific is a senior leadership role responsible for executing Swiss Re’s Facultative strategy across the Asia Pacific region. The role carries full accountability for the profitable growth, portfolio quality, risk governance, and market positioning of the P&C Facultative business.
The incumbent will lead and further develop a high-performing underwriting team, shape and implement a sustainable Target Operating Model (TOM), and strengthen Swiss Re’s position as the reinsurer of choice in the region. As a senior market representative, this role serves as a brand ambassador and strategic partner to key clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Business Leadership
- Define and execute the Asia Pacific P&C Facultative strategy aligned with global priorities and regional growth ambitions.
- Deliver sustainable, risk-adjusted profitable growth while maintaining disciplined underwriting standards.
- Active performance management
Portfolio & Risk Management
- Maintain oversight of portfolio performance, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines, risk appetite, and Group standards.
- Ensure robust governance and compliance within the MAS Individual Accountability (IAC) Framework.
- Monitor business plans, budgets, KPIs, and exposure management to enable timely corrective actions.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting guidelines and best practices in alignment with Group frameworks.
Client & Market Leadership
- Strengthen Swiss Re’s market position and brand as the preferred facultative reinsurer in Asia Pacific.
- Develop and deepen strategic relationships with cedants, brokers, and key market stakeholders.
- Position Swiss Re as the “first port of call” for facultative reinsurance solutions.
- Promote strong cross functional collaboration
People & Culture
- Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing, diverse underwriting team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Attract, develop, and retain top talent; mentor team members across experience levels.
- Promote strong cross-functional collaboration across underwriting, client management, risk, and operations.
About You
Regulatory & Governance
- Identified as Material Risk Personnel (MRP)/MRP Manager under the MAS Individual Accountability (IAC) Framework.
- Appointment subject to meeting MAS fit and proper requirements.
Experience & Expertise
- Extensive leadership experience in (re)insurance, ideally with regional or multi-market accountability.
- Proven track record in building, scaling, and steering profitable businesses at a regional level.
- Strong technical underwriting expertise across Property and Casualty lines.
- Deep understanding of the Asia Pacific (re)insurance landscape.
- Demonstrated expertise in portfolio management, capital steering, and risk governance.
- Broad understanding of multiple product lines and complex risk structures.
