Senior Facultative Casualty Underwriter

About the Role
You will join our Singapore Facultative team and drive profitable growth by building and expanding a Casualty facultative portfolio primarily across Hong Kong and Taiwan, while extending your market impact across the fast-growing Southeast Asia region. In this front-line role, you will execute Swiss Re Facultative’s go-to-market strategies, strengthen our market presence, and deliver high-value solutions to brokers and clients.
The role offers exceptional regional exposure, with hands-on involvement in peak renewals and four-eye consultations across multiple Asian markets—providing enhanced visibility, accelerated learning, and a broader commercial perspective.

Reporting to the Head of Casualty Facultative, Greater China and Southeast Asia, this position offers high visibility, meaningful responsibility, and a clear platform for growth within a leading global reinsurance organization.
Key Responsibilities
Underwriting and Business focus:
- Be the first port of call for Fac business, and provide high quality, timely and appropriate service to clients and brokers whilst complying with underwriting authority and guidelines
- Grow a profitable and balanced Casualty Facultative book in accordance with the planned portfolio targets and Go-To Market strategy, within stated underwriting guidelines and other governance rules.
- Drive both single risk and facility growth and unlock opportunities in small to mid-sized industrial and commercial segments.
- Monitors portfolio metrics and observe external risk landscape & trends and steer portfolios to reach profit targets and the Target Casualty Portfolio
- Mitigates volatility, manages line size and explores alternative approaches that allows us to write business profitably and meet client needs.
- Provides high quality and timely underwriting service to brokers and clients
- Actively seeks and procures opportunities in the market through high quality client and broker interactions, relationship building and engagement
- Builds strong new business pipelines and boosts renewal retention to strengthen Swiss Re Fac’s commercial position and pricing adequacy.
- Develop and monitor budgets and business plans to ensure timely steering and reporting.
- Ensures diligent use of pricing / modelling tools and robust reflection of pricing to exposure and risk quality, proactively improves data transparency and accuracy
- Cross sells Property and other lines of business where possible
- Helps train and retain underwriting talent
- Supports underwriting peer reviews & audits and implements audit recommendations
- Provides underwriting support to other Swiss Re offices and handles ad hoc tasks as needed.
- Drive business origination and enhance relationship building with clients and brokers
- Improve efficiency & productivity
- Proactively manage operational risks and ensure Operational Risk Management (ORM) compliance and contribute to the ORM process and internal risk reviews
About the Team
This is a unique opportunity to join Swiss Re’s Singapore Casualty Facultative Team and be part of the Asia P&C Facultative Underwriting community across our Asia Pacific business units. About You
- Technical university degree, law preferred; or vast experience in (re-)insurance business.
- 12+ years of relevant underwriting experience, with strong, up-to-date knowledge of insurance and reinsurance products and market dynamics, or experience in a comparable reinsurance or broker role. Preferable in North Asia markets; experience in other emerging markets will also be considered.
- Experience across APAC and Southeast Asia markets is an added advantage.
- Proven underwriting experience in Casualty and Financial Lines, including Motor and Personal Accident products.
- Strong expertise in underwriting facultative facilities; experience in Casualty Treaty underwriting is an advantage.
- Established market network and client/broker relationships.
- Willingness to travel as required based on business needs.
- Comfortable working in a highly collaborative, matrix, and multicultural environment, demonstrating ownership, accountability, and a strong service mindset when engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to perform under pressure, adapt quickly, and step confidently outside of one’s comfort zone.
