Singapore, SG
Senior Risk Officer
About the Role
Life & Health Risk Management supports informed and transparent risk-taking by proactively partnering with stakeholders and constructively challenging risk-taking decisions. We offer an independent, global and long-term perspective to help drive success across Swiss Re's Life & Health (L&H) business.
You are responsible for identifying, analysing and monitoring L&H insurance risks across all risk factors, helping the business not only steer away from risks that could destabilise Swiss Re, but also collaborate with Business to identify issues early and mitigate/fix them.
In fulfilling these responsibilities, you will contribute to a broad and evolving set of tasks drawn from the list below, with allocations rotating across the team based on business needs and priorities:
- Provide risk advice on high-impact transactions and projects across diverse markets, to ensure that Swiss Re accepts the most appropriate business within the defined risk appetite.
- Directly collaborate with Business Partners and senior leadership to balance business strategy with appropriate risk management (including portfolio steering and business planning), by fostering strong relationships across different functions.
- Lead/conduct risk reviews and risk deep dives (including insurance and operational risks) to assess the quality of expert judgment of the business.
- Lead/support the review and monitoring of risk limits to ensure Swiss Re's exposures and aggregation of those risks are within tolerance.
- Support risk identification for new business models and technologies (including emerging risks) to facilitate forward looking strategies for future risk opportunities and/or risk mitigations.
- Promote good risk culture and improve risk awareness within the business.
- Travel required occasionally, as well as attendance to global meetings that span multiple time zones.
About the Team
The Life & Health Risk Management team works closely with L&H business units and senior management to execute a comprehensive risk management strategy. This ensures effective portfolio oversight, long-term profitability, and protection of Swiss Re’s reputation and financial strength.
The role supports the overall activities in the L&H Risk Management team (with direct reporting line to Head Transaction RM Asia & EMEA) carrying out responsibilities delegated from the L&H Chief Risk Officer Reinsurance.
Through collaboration with the wider Risk Management community, you will be empowered to challenge assumptions, help shape risk strategy, and influence decisions that directly affect our financial resilience and client trust.
About You
