About the Role

 

Swiss Re is seeking an innovative & creative Claims Manager to join our Life & Health Claims team.

 

This role has a focus on the operational and technical management of the reinsurance claims adjudication process and end-to-end management of client claims portfolios, ensuring we are developing and deploying appropriate services in accordance with Swiss Re guidelines, legislative and regulatory requirements.

 

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with clients and various teams within Swiss Re locally, regionally and globally to manage our risk by;

  • Coordinating the analysis of relevant insurance data to assist with risk management and/or identification of future risks and opportunities for Swiss Re;
  • Ensuring effective management of the L&H in-force claims portfolios, business goals and financial targets, whilst maintaining a long-term focus on sustainability and strategic objectives;
  • Deploying technical claims management expertise to ensure sound decision-making in line with policy and regulatory frameworks;
  • Undertaking regular reviews with claims team members and providing ongoing mentorship and quality training;
  • Harnessing data, trend analyses and execution of evidence-based practices;
  • Being a knowledge specialist promoting the values and culture of Swiss Re;
  • Deploying life insurance claims, industry and product/policy knowledge and expertise to support new business and solution development;
  • Leading claims response to applicable regulatory and legislative reforms across the Life insurance and superannuation industry;
  • Provide knowledge-sharing opportunities, tools, training, and technical direction to L&H clients; and
  • Crafting and delivering customer-focused services, in-line with the client strategy and Swiss Re claims vision.

 

About the Team

 

The L&H claims team are an experienced group of L&H claims professionals who have significant experience across a variety of fields and are committed to delivering a comprehensive claims management service. We link with L&H claims colleagues around the world to ensure that global best practices can be contributed to, identified and conveyed into the local market.

 

Furthermore, the team has interdependent relationships with other units within the L&H Business Management division and is required to cultivate a strong team culture in order to drive delivery of the overall divisional directive. The division comprises the following units: Technical Accounting, Portfolio Management Actuarial and Actuarial Management.

 

About You

 

  • Significant technical L&H claims expertise across market-relevant products, demonstrated through peer and industry recognition of capabilities;
  • Comprehensive (at least 5 years) experience working in the Australian/ New Zealand life insurance market (individual and group);
  • Deep understanding of the insurance / reinsurance industry;
  • Knowledge specialist and industry profile would be advantageous;
  • Having a relevant Bachelor's Degree would be highly desirable;
  • Experience in proactive cross-functional stakeholder management, strategic planning and delivery;
  • Demonstrated influencing and leadership success in previous roles;
  • Experience in applying project management skills including coordinating the management of projects, identification of need for project, development of business case, leading and coordinating projects to deliver objectives within required timeframes; and
  • Demonstrated experience in data analytics and derivation of insights on portfolio trends and risk management requirements.
