About the Role
As a Claims Specialist within Swiss Re's Life & Health ANZ Claims team, you will be at the forefront of delivering market-leading claims management services that make a genuine difference — for clients, for their customers, and for the sustainability of the broader industry. This is a dynamic, high-impact role that blends deep technical claims expertise with a collaborative, client-first mindset. You will engage proactively with clients, customers, and internal stakeholders across Australia, New Zealand, and globally, bringing both rigour and empathy to everything you do.
Key Responsibilities
- Build lasting client partnerships: Develop and execute tailored client engagement plans that embed consistent, best-practice claims management and deepen trust with key stakeholders.
- Proactively manage complex claims portfolios: Oversee Life & Health client portfolios across all lines of business, ensuring every decision aligns with treaty terms, policy guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Turn data into insight: Leverage claims data and your technical expertise to identify emerging trends, surface new business opportunities, and inform product development strategies.
- Share knowledge and elevate capability: Deliver high-value services including training, audits, complex case consulting, and process improvement initiatives that strengthen client claims capabilities.
- Stay ahead of emerging risks: Continuously analyse claims and market data to identify risks and opportunities, contributing to stronger, more proactive risk management strategies.
- Apply technical excellence: Ensure all claims assessments and adjudications are rigorous, consistent, and fully compliant with applicable regulatory frameworks and legislative requirements.
- Develop client-focused solutions: Design and deliver services aligned to individual client strategies and Swiss Re's broader claims vision, with a focus on measurable, meaningful outcomes.
- Collaborate across Swiss Re: Work closely with colleagues in L&H Underwriting, Pricing, Valuation, Client Markets, and Solutions to influence outcomes, share expertise, and drive value across the business.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Broad technical expertise in life insurance claims assessment, ideally spanning retail and group insurance products across multiple lines of business.
- Strong knowledge of the Australian &/or New Zealand insurance landscape, including products, regulatory environment, and industry frameworks relevant to life and health claims.
- Proven stakeholder management experience, with a demonstrated ability to influence outcomes, manage complex relationships, and deliver impactful client-facing services.
These are additional nice to haves:
- Familiarity with claims technology, including automation tools, workflow management systems, and triage platforms.
- Experience with data analytics for portfolio management and claims insights.
- Background in dispute resolution processes and/or rehabilitation and return-to-work programs within disability claims.
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or evidence of continuous professional development, including ALUCA CPD accreditation.
- A purpose-driven approach — passionate about advancing industry practice and delivering meaningful outcomes for clients and end customers.
- Influential communication skills — excellent negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities, with the ability to deliver clear and compelling messages across all levels.
