Corporate Actuary Team Lead

About the Role

 

We are seeking an experienced individual with strong analytical skills and ability to handle both conceptual and practical issues to lead the Group IFRS17 reporting team.

 

Your responsibilities will include, however, are not limited to:

 

  • Providing engaging and insightful explanation of Group IFRS17 results to senior management;
  • Consolidating the quarterly Group IFRS17 results from the individual 'ANSEG' (product) owners into a market level ANZ result;
  • Preparation of the Business Reserving Committee materials and presenting them on a quarterly basis;
  • Presenting of the results to various stakeholders including the ANZ Leadership Team;
  • Liaising with the L&H Global Valuation team to update on progress and follow instructions for global consolidation;
  • Liaising with the Finance function, GFO&T for managing and adding manual adjustments;
  • Reviewing and approving Swiss and Singapore statutory reporting results; and
  • Being an active member of the Valuation Leadership Team, inspiring, leading and being accountable for the team's performance and staff.

 

The role includes the management of two direct reports.

 

As a senior leader in the team, you will encourage and engage a team of talented actuaries to deliver all actuarial reporting requirements and develop a deep understanding of the diverse, complex and growing reinsurance business in Australia and New Zealand to proactively provide actionable insights to senior leaders locally and globally.

 

About the Team

 

Our Valuation team comprises people across both Sydney and Bangalore and are responsible for all the corporate actuarial requirements of the L&H business.

 

Activities of the team include:

 

  • The calculation and monitoring of reserves;
  • Conducting experience studies and recommending assumptions to the Business Reserving Committee;
  • Monitoring and reporting of regulatory capital requirements;
  • Supporting the Appointed Actuary in meeting their statutory and FAR obligations; and
  • Providing a service to other functions and units, including Pricing and Portfolio Management & Insights.

 

About You

 

You will possess:

 

  • Fellowship of the Actuaries Institute;
  • At least 5 years' experience in corporate actuarial or life & health insurance industry with knowledge of the Australian market and its products;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to grasp risks and business drivers on multiple product lines;
  • Ability to influence and lead within cross-functional settings; and
  • Independence, good judgement and business insight.
