About the role
We are seeking a talented and driven individual to join our global Life & Health Business Development team as Business Development Manager for Japan Life and Health.
In this role, you will be a key partner for the Japan Life & Health Market Units and Structured Transaction teams, contributing to our strategic growth in the region. This BD manager is a role to grow into transactions even if less experience now.
Our Life and Health Business Development (BD L&H Re) team is a strategic and innovative global group dedicated to driving the firm's growth and success.
The mandate of BD L&H focuses on three key areas:
1. Capitalizing on Macro and Industry Changes:
- The team monitors and analyzes macroeconomic trends and industry shifts to identify opportunities and implications for our clients' capital and corporate finance strategies.
- They leverage this insight to develop actionable strategies that capitalize on these changes, ensuring that our clients can navigate and benefit from evolving market conditions.
2. Anticipating Client Needs in Capital Management and Corporate Finance:
- By deeply understanding our clients' capital and corporate finance needs, the team develops tailored propositions and pitches for targeted C-Suite engagement.
- They play a crucial role in generating leads and advancing pre-pipeline opportunities, positioning the firm as a proactive and insightful transaction partner.
3. Supporting Life & Health Executive Committee-Sponsored Strategic Initiatives:
- The team collaborates with business unit on strategic initiatives endorsed by the Executive Committee, providing critical support for successful execution.
- This involves comprehensive analysis and development of tactical ideas, and effective implementation to align with the firm's overall strategic goals.
Role description - your responsibilities include:
- Track changes in regulation, financial markets, capital markets and insurance environment and explore our clients' resulting strategic challenges.
- Analyze capital and financial disclosure of key clients and connect findings to anticipate client needs and build hypothesis.
- Quantify client benefits through capital simulations and projections to demonstrate the value of reinsurance transactions to our clients.
- Help Client Managers in developing pitching material and preparing for client meetings or workshops.
Reporting Line
You will report directly to the Global Head of BD L&H Re, ensuring alignment with global strategies and objectives.le
The ideal candidate will be a proactive and strategic thinker with commercial mindset, strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of the Japan L&H market. You will play a vital role in driving our business development efforts and contributing to the firm's success in Japan.
About You
You are a team player with an intercultural mindset, actively contributing to team spirit, comfortable in a demanding environment.
Essential:
- 4+ years of relevant experience in L&H re/insurance, ideally you have worked in insurance transaction advisory, actuarial advisory or regulatory environment in the Japanese markets
- a commercial sense and are keen to engage clients through consultative sales in finance topics.
- driven to generate new business and create impact
- eager to learn about Swiss Re transactions and structured solutions proposition
- excellent Japanese and good English skills
Nice to have:
- experience on capital management, solvency (ESR) and actuarial valuation is a plus
