An opportunity to join a fast-growing, dynamic, foreign insurance company. You will be generating new business and conducting insurance solicitation activities, origination and development with agencies and brokers. 

 

About the role

Position objectives and position summary

Generating new business and conducting insurance solicitation activities, origination and development with agencies and brokers. Maintaining and expanding the relationships with target clients, understanding the full product suite, in order to identify business opportunities.

 

Main tasks/activities

  • Develop and implement strategies for distribution management in Japan
  • Understand the business strategy and underwriting appetite of each business line to generate profitable business
  • Function as a hub for the Japanese market and underwriting teams to explore localized and effective business flows
  • Implement the PDCA cycle to activate the assigned agencies and brokers
  • Proactively acquire market trends and communicate them to internal stakeholders
  • Influence across teams to further improve branch operations in Japan
  • Negotiate tenaciously with internal and external stakeholders
  • Generate new revenue streams by deploying products with targeted agencies through digital platforms
  • Act as the primary contact for the assigned agencies and brokers
  • Collaborate with underwriting and operations to ensure alignment
  • Prepare and/or support colleagues to work out insurance solicitation material and various marketing material
  • Enter and maintain sales activities (e.g.: initiatives, discussion notes, quotations) in Customer 360 and necessary database
  • Contribute to other project work and accept special assignments as and when necessary
  • Adhere to all laws and regulations both external and internal
  • Representation activities and interaction with other parties
  • Represents SRIJ in meetings with clients, agencies, brokers and other intermediaries and organizations

 

 

About the team

Working as part of a dynamic and growing Customer and Distribution team that reports directly to the Head of Japan, helping to deliver innovative solutions to customers, agencies and brokers.

 

About You

You will ideally have worked in a commercial insurance company or agency in Japan and have the following attributes

  • At least 5 years-experience in Japanese agency business handling corporate business
  • Good knowledge about the Japanese corporate insurance business as well as agency management and pipeline development.
  • Open mindset with good communication skills
  • Ability to drive innovation
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively internally and externally
  • Self-motivated, organized and persistent in achieving goals
  • Native Japanese language skills
  • Proficiency in reading and writing English; spoken English is a plus.
