Actuarial Student / Business Student Coop – Summer/Fall 2020  

About the Team:

We currently have multiple openings for our Toronto Location in the Reinsurance IFRS 17 Implementation Team


About the Role:

We are looking for a detail oriented, motivated, goal driven students to support liability portfolio assessment, legal entity impact analysis, and transition evaluation in Swiss Re Subsidiaries around the world.  In this role, you will be supporting the Vice Presidents responsible for IFRS 17 implementation in assessing the new accounting standard's impact on the legal entities.

Your responsibility will include:

  • Support transition modeling and evaluation tasks
  • Analyze large reinsurance treaties from an IFRS 17 impact perspective.
  • Create clear and accurate documentation on the analysis
  • Summarize the findings and share with the team.
  • Enhance the existing templates
  • Create power point slides and present the results to the stakeholders


About You

Basic Requirement

  • Pursuing a Bachelors' degree from a University in the fields Actuarial Science, Business, Risk Management, or a related field
  • Superb communication skills (reading, writing and speaking.)
  • Basic understanding of insurance, income statement and balance sheet.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of IFRS 17 (Candidates will receive a training slide/video prior to the interview)
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Power Point and Word
  • Decent understanding of insurance product features and reinsurance
  • Highly collaborative, ability to keep appropriate individuals informed and actively demonstrate team work
  • Superior organization skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize and deliver results in a dynamic environment
