Every year, Swiss Re offers a number of students the opportunity to join our interns@swissre program which runs for 4 months. We target students that have a strong academic record and a desire to work in the (re)insurance industry. This is a great opportunity to give bright and highly motivated students a hands-on experience with real global issues and the opportunity to launch your career at Swiss Re.
About the Team:
The Life & Health (L&H) pricing team is based in Toronto and is composed of talented actuaries that is passionate about understanding and pricing risk in a dynamic, client focused environment that is dedicated to helping our clients succeed. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Swiss Re's L&H Pricing Team in Canada. We are the market leader and are responsible for Product Development, Research and Development, Reinsurance Pricing of Traditional, Transactional business. The team works closely with other functions and experts around the globe. This is a wonderful opportunity to get experience with reinsurance.
About the Role:
This internship will provide an opportunity to learn about the Canadian L&H insurance marketplace, to develop a technical skill set combined with market, product and regulatory knowledge. It will also allow you to interact with team members across different functions, and help with research and develop tools which play a key role in closing reinsurance deals. As a participant of the Swiss Re Intern program, you will take on concrete tasks and various projects straightaway, supported by your team. Networking, social and business events will allow you to fully experience Swiss Re's company culture. You'll join our New Entrants Days and you'll get relevant training allowing you to develop new skills. You will support the work of our team in activities such as:
• Researching actuarial and industrial knowledge/experience
• Reinsurance pricing model building, reviewing and documentation
• Process and tool improvements
• Pricing infrastructure maintenance
• Providing services to internal customers (ad-hoc analyses, meeting presentations, stakeholder consulting)
About You:

Education and Technical Skills
- Pursuing an undergrad degree in Bachelor or Master's in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or related fields.
- Exceptional academic performance (GPA of 3.0 and above)
- Very good oral and written communication skills
- You are comfortable learning and using software tools, can write Excel macros, code in Python or R. Knowing AXIS would be an asset.
- Completion of 1 or more internships in insurance, sales, or business is an asset
