About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Canadian Market Unit within the global L&H Reinsurance Business Unit to assume a leadership position and make a difference. The successful candidate will be responsible for the continued success and future growth of our Canadian and English Caribbean L&H business plus the global account management of a portfolio of L&H clients. In a complex risk environment, Swiss Re’s role is more important than ever, extending far beyond traditional risk transfer. - Assumes P&L responsibility and accountability for global clients and the Canadian & English Caribbean L&H business, including planning and budgeting
- Effectively leads a sales team of experienced client managers by promoting best in class sales competencies and business hungry mindset
- Builds and fosters a collaborative team spirit, shapes a culture of consultative sales, innovative solution creation and smart business origination
- Mentors talents within Canada and is an advocate for cross functional engagement and talent mobility
- Drives differentiation, sources new initiatives and expands transactional growth, by leveraging Swiss Re's full range of capabilities
- Ensures top quality execution of client planning, deal opportunities and facilitates internal and external communication related to origination and negotiation
- Develops and executes client strategies focused on bottom line results.
- Supports strategic relationship building between selected clients and Swiss Re at different levels, on a local and global scale; Attends top level meetings with C-suite
- Promotes the emotional attachment of our clients to Swiss Re
- Develops and maintains a rich professional network, both internally and externally
- Actively contributes to the Swiss Re brand by representing the company in industry associations, market events and Swiss Re's own events
- Is an active member of Swiss Re Canada Reinsurance Executive Team, whose main purpose is to drive the office culture and execution of the strategy
Position includes travelling within Canada and English Caribbean.
About the Team
Reports to, and supports the President & Chief Executive Officer, Canada & English Caribbean, in the management of business relationships with corporate clients. Role closely collaborates with a variety of cross-functional team members including Costing, Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Valuation and Solutions.
About You
- A university degree or equivalent education & experience
- Actuarial qualification a preference
- Professional Experience: 15+ years' insurance / reinsurance relevant experience
- Outstanding understanding of market dynamics and trends, L&H re/insurance products and evolving client needs
- An accomplished leader who has demonstrated their leadership of a team, community involvement, and/or leading cross-functional project teams
- Strong knowledge of insurance corporate finance drivers
- Proven track record of building productive and collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders on senior management level
- Experience in managing large scale initiatives in the reinsurance environment
- You are an engaging personality, a team-builder and networker, who enjoys working in a multi-cultural team environment with multiple stakeholders
- Your passion is to understand the multi-facetted world of relationship building and you are interested in the emotional side of our business
- You have demonstrated strategic vision, have a strong business acumen and result orientation; You can think out of the box, roll your sleeves up and are not afraid to take charge of a situation
- You believe in efficiency and simplifying processes without compromising quality
