We target students that have a strong academic record and a desire to work in the (re)insurance industry. About the role

Are you interested in Sales/Distribution/Marketing and looking for an internship in the Property & Casualty Insurance industry for summer 2019? Are you prepared to apply your amazing skills and knowledge, learn new things, expand your network, and work with some fantastic people? If so then this might be the position for you as we are hiring an intern to join our Sales and Distribution team in Toronto.

You will work with the team and focus on building reports, updating systems with data, preparing marketing materials and supporting pipeline development.


Potential projects would include:

  • Broker Meeting preparation: preparing reports and prospect lists
  • Marketing Materials: developing a local library of both electronic and printed marketing materials for underwriter and sales access
  • Pipeline Research: internet research to update profile on prospect accounts
  • Updating silver/key account profiles based on internet and system data
  • Mining renewal lists for potential cross sell opportunities )based on documented underwriter appetites)
  • CorSales updates project: updating contacts across all brokerages, ensuring deals are attached to policies and adding underwriter discussion notes and activities.


About the team

The Sales & Distribution team is based in Toronto and is composed of a Head of Sales and a Business Development Manager.

The core of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is that we apply fresh perspectives, knowledge and capital to anticipate and manage risk. Corporate Solutions offers commercial insurance to mid-sized and large corporations.  Sales & Distribution focuses on creating smarter solutions for our brokers and our clients while looking at a holistic viewpoint.


About You 

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree and has a clear interest in the Insurance industry
  • Enjoys working with and collaborating with different teams and professionals e.g. underwriters, finance
  • Strong communication skills since you will need to tap into existing Swiss Re knowledge and expertise
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while establishing priorities; ability to handle multiple tasks in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Willingness to learn and be flexible
  • Easily adapts to new systems.
