Technical Accountant Analyst

About the Role

As a Technical Accountant Analyst, you'll be at the intersection of data accuracy and client service excellence. You'll manage critical treaty administration processes that directly impact our financial reporting and client relationships, giving you visibility across multiple aspects of our business.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and validate client premiums and policy level data for regulatory & financial reporting purposes, ensuring the quality of financial & policy data processed in Swiss Re's systems for use by all stakeholders
  • Meet tight deadlines to achieve cash close dates along with recency and key performance indicator targets
  • Identify and resolve material financial and policy variances or deviations, working closely with clients to analyze and troubleshoot issues
  • Maintain and update policy information and assure treaty compliance on records and reports
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with external clients through consistent communication and excellent service

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience in an Accounting/Finance related discipline
  • 1-2 years related experience in a reinsurance/insurance environment
  • General understanding of reinsurance terms and conditions and knowledge of reinsurance types and risk transfer concepts
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to look at problems or situations from a fresh perspective
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
  • Ability to work independently after initial training period
  • Proven organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities within tight deadlines

 

These are additional nice to haves:

  • LOMA/ARA designation in progress or completed
  • Experience using PowerBI for data visualization and analysis
  • Effective written communication skills for client correspondence and documentation
  • Proven decision-making skills with ability to exercise good business judgment
  • Ability to travel as needed

 

The base salary hiring range for this existing position is CAD $55,000 - $75,000. The specific base salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.  At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
