Underwriting Associate- Managing General Agent (MGA) Team
We have an excellent opportunity for someone wanting a broad exposure to multiple functional areas and lines of business. Here in Operations, on the MGA team, you will be challenged to learn how to book multiple lines of business in our financial system, as well as oversee our offshore colleagues doing the same, including trouble shooting discrepancies and finding solutions to booking problems. This is a great opportunity for someone with previous commercial insurance experience looking to get back into the workforce.
About the Role:
The Underwriting Associate is an integral member of the MGA team, working very closely with the Program Manager and Underwriting Compliance Analyst on assigned MGA's. Responsibilities include:
- Handle policy data entry for assigned MGA programs
- Triage priorities for programs supported, supporting the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures for the booking and program management process, and ensuring the compliant issuance of business
- Work closely with statistical compliance team to ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements and demonstrate timely identification of internal and external activities necessary to prevent and correct compliance issues
- Investigate and resolve data discrepancies
- Review incoming production activity for accuracy and compliance, workload and aging demands, and aged accounts receivables for discrepancies
About the Team:
The NA MGA team handles MGA relationships for Corporate Solutions, that are either retained or ceded to our Reinsurance colleagues. We are also part of our international MGA team, building consistent processes across regions to ensure our MGA and Facilities portfolio runs efficiently and compliantly. Some of our key colleagues are based in Zurich, London, and Sydney.
About You:

- Entry Level position; 1-2 years relevant experience in commercial insurance is preferred
- You are an outgoing person with a passion for constant collaboration and communication with team members. Working in isolation is not part of this role
- You proactively ask questions and contribute to discussions
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to simultaneously run multiple projects and prioritize vs. completing each task completely before moving on to the next
- Strong analytical skills. Delivering quality output on short deadlines and handle details without losing site of the "big picture"
- Capable of solving new problems, using past experiences with similar, but different situations
- We have a hybrid work model, requiring you to be in the office an average of 2.5 days per week
Travel is generally not required.
The position will be located in our Windsor, CT office. Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office two to three days per week on average.
