In Business Development (BD) we generate reinsurance leads and build value propositions that attract our clients. Together we engage on risk & capital management to craft transactions that make our clients more resilient. We co-develop impactful capital concepts and reinsurance structures. From Zurich we serve markets in Europe, Middle East and Africa and work on European projects with colleagues in Munich and London. The key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Analyze Solvency and financial disclosure and connect findings with qualitative research to develop client specific insights and hypothesis
  • Deliver high quality analytics and solvency simulations to demonstrate the value of reinsurance to our clients
  • Develop client pitches with a focus on how reinsurance benefits financial metrics
  • Be a key partner for transactions in cross functional teams, support planning, engagement and marketing activities for key client accounts and markets
  • Explore our clients' strategic challenges, changes in regulation and insurance market environment, to develop reinsurance propositions and origination strategies
  • Collaborate with senior team members across BD EMEA on concrete client opportunities and market initiatives
  • Deliver on transaction initiatives and origination together with the XFT
  • As you grow, you will start to engage with clients on their needs and journey and will facilitate solutions in close cooperation with client management and related teams.


In joining Business Development, you will gain a thorough knowledge of reinsurance and Swiss Re from a global perspective and across all lines of business. You will have the ability to develop further through the close collaboration with Client Markets, Structured Solutions and Underwriting


About the team

In Business Development, we collaborate globally with locations in Asia, America and Europe and we are 100% client oriented. We comprise around 40 professionals with different cultural and educational backgrounds and have a strong commercial focus. In Europe, we are impacting clients and markets with our work out of Zurich, Munich and London. We strive to build talent and we rotate and swap positions between locations and functions. We are working in a good and concentrated atmosphere and at the same time have fun and care for each other. You will benefit from the deep experience of our VP team members, who will coach and train you. You will be reporting to the Deputy Head of Business Development EMEA.


About You

  • You have gained relevant experience in re/insurance, consulting or development of financial propositions with clients
  • You have a strong commercial sense and are able to put yourself into our client's shoes
  • Ideally you have experience in reinsurance transaction business and/or primary proposition development and are keen to grow your knowledge in this area
  • You command excellent oral and written English skills; additional European language skills advantageous
  • You have successfully completed university degree, preferably in Finance, Natural or Actuarial Science, or similar quantitative focus or equivalent
  • You have already shown your ability work independently and feel comfortable in a demanding environment
  • You are a team-player with an intercultural mindset, and contribute actively to the overall team spirit
  • You are proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
