About the Role

As an Intern in the Captive Centre of Excellence, you will be embedded in a small, high-impact team at the heart of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions' Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) strategy. You will take on responsibility from day one: creating new solutions for our clients, supporting on transactions, developing Swiss Re's captive value proposition, conducting market research, and engaging with stakeholders across the organisation and the broader market. This role suits someone who is self-directed, intellectually curious about structured insurance solutions, and energised by working across a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in advancing transactions and identifying and developing leads by conducting client needs assessments;
• Contribute to the development of structured and alternative risk transfer product positioning, building understanding of solutions such as structured fronting, parametric insurance, risk financing, and legacy solutions;
• Lead market research and intelligence gathering on captive market trends, regulatory developments, competitor positioning, and client needs and synthesising findings into clear, actionable insights for the COE and senior stakeholders;
• Support the development and articulation of Swiss Re's captive value proposition, contributing to the creation of marketing materials and conference content that clearly position Swiss Re as the go-to partner for captive risk transfer;
• Engage proactively with internal teams across ART, Underwriting, Legacy Solutions, Client & Distribution Management (CDM), and Swiss Re Institute to gather input, align on messaging, and support a "One Swiss Re" approach;
• Help build and maintain the captive pipeline dashboard, tracking business development activities and opportunities to support strategic decision-making and reporting.

About the Team

The Captive Centre of Excellence (COE) is part of the Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) team in Swiss Re's Corporate Solutions Business Unit.

The COE operates across dimensions including Structuring, Lead Generation, Deal Development and Market Intelligence. The team works closely with CorSo's Market Units, brokers, captive managers, and captive boards across the globe. It is a small, agile, and highly collaborative team.

About You

You are a self-starter and comfortable navigating a complex, multi-stakeholder environment, reaching out proactively to colleagues across teams and functions. You have a genuine intellectual interest in structured insurance and alternative risk transfer solutions, and you enjoy translating that curiosity into clear, compelling outputs. You are adaptable, resilient, and able to manage competing priorities.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

• Currently enrolled in a Master's degree programme in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Risk Management, Law, or a related field;
• Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to independently gather, synthesize, and present complex market or product information in a clear and structured manner;
• A genuine technical interest in structured insurance solutions (e.g. captive fronting, parametric insurance, structured (re)insurance, legacy solutions);
• Proven ability to work across multiple stakeholders, including the confidence to proactively reach out to and collaborate with colleagues across different teams, functions, and seniority levels;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to craft clear, professional, and compelling content for diverse audiences.

These are additional nice to haves:

• Prior internship or academic exposure to (re)insurance, financial services, risk management, or a related industry;
• Familiarity with captive insurance structures or corporate risk financing concepts;
• Experience in independently preparing presentations, reports, or marketing materials for a professional audience;
• Additional languages (German or French) are a strong plus;
• A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with a genuine interest in business development and market strategy;
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and deliver high-quality outputs under time pressure.

The base salary range for this position will be shared with you during the interview process. The expected start date for this position is 1 November 2026.
