About the Role

Category Manager P&BS plans and leads global P&BS initiatives cross-divisionally. The Category Manager Real Estate and Construction develops assigned sub-categories strategies as part of the wider P&BS Category Strategy, proactively leads sourcing projects, specification definition and demand management, as well as manages specific supplier performance and innovation activities. Taking the ownership for Real Estate and Construction, this role is recognized as the lead for advisory to our business partners in Real Estate and Construction across Swiss Re.

 

  • Responsible for supporting the bottom-up aggregation of all Real Estate and Construction Category data across divisions and countries to inform the top-down target setting process, reconciling the "gaps" between bottom-up and top-down targets and identifying initiatives required to close any such disparities
  • Accountable for delivering annual Real Estate and Construction Category financial targets
  • Accountable for the overall delivery of the Real Estate and Construction, critical metric and Balanced Scorecard targets
  • Responsible for consolidating, sharing and effective collaboration of Vendor, market, category and internal business data and information to develop the Real Estate and Construction Category strategy
  • Responsible for monitoring compliance as well as enforcing Targeted Standard on Global Sourcing and the associated Buying Guidance and Vendor Management Guidance
  • Accountable for developing quality processes to allow for efficient Real Estate and Construction Category service delivery that meets or exceeds business partner requirements
  • Accountable for implementation and communication of the final Real Estate and Construction Strategy and Annual Real Estate and Construction Plans to relevant business partners
  • Accountable for execution and application of vendor management in the Real Estate and Construction Category, aligned to the Vendor Relationship Management Framework and Global Sourcing Services and Process Landscape
  • Responsible for developing the Real Estate and Construction category network while ensuring effective collaboration within Global Sourcing
  • Responsible for managing relationships with key business partners
  • Accountable for taking ownership of your own career, performance and development
  • Responsible to ensure continual improvement is active in the P&BS team – active part in CI initiatives, engage team members in CI improvements
  • Accountable for ensuring the resources, information and tools are in place for project execution throughout the Real Estate and Construction Category, providing project management and implementation support where required
  • Accountable for the creation, application, completion and review of major contracts for the Real Estate and Construction Category
  • Responsible for providing Real Estate and Construction Category input into the development of appropriate Playbook.

About the Team

The Property and Business Services team is globally accountable for end-to-end sourcing activities and development of Swiss Re's sourcing strategy for its respective categories of spend. This team, along with its Swiss Re business partners and through established Sourcing networks, executes this strategy to deliver value, improve quality, optimize cost and mitigate risk in the supply chain. Property and Business Services account for more than $240m in annual spend and are the primary categories managed by this team.

 

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree required at a minimum; in fields such as business administration, finance, law or a scientific or technical field. Strong preference for CIPS or similar professional qualification.
  • Ideally, you will have ten years of Sourcing/Procurement experience in the insurance, re-insurance or financial services industry. You will demonstrate proficiency in executing on pragmatic solutions in collaboration with the business to advance business priorities.
  • You will be required to communicate effectively with Business partners and external suppliers. Candidate shall demonstrate behaviours consistent with Swiss Re's leadership imperatives with a focus on driving sustainable performance and continuous improvement.
