About the Claims Team You'll Lead
The team is based in Zurich, Hamburg and Munich and comprises 5 claims professionals of different backgrounds, disciplines and languages, handling losses in the wholesale and retail markets. The team runs claims produced by the DACH Casulty and FinPro and Swiss property, energy (onshore, offshore, mining, utility & power), engineering & construction underwriting teams.

About the Role


This position is responsible for the management of the Swiss and Casualty DACH team. Primary responsibility is the overall technical supervision and leadership of this team, whilst at the same time maintaining your own smaller portfolio of claims. 

 

Key Responsibilities will include:
•    Delivering the highest quality claim handling and customer service consistent with the Corporate Solutions Claim Commitment and Claim Handling Guidelines. Setting and maintaining appropriate and timely indemnity and expense reserves in accordance with claims handling expectations and guidelines. Develop and implement appropriate strategy for fair claim resolution, to include settlement negotiation where needed.
•    Collaborating with peers in the CorSo DACH and EMEA claims leadership team and assisting the Head Claims Credit & Surety and DACH in implementing the overall strategic vision for the DACH department as part of the EMEA and Global Claims North Star strategy.
•    Coordinating and/or taking ownership for negotiating complex/sensitive claims and embrace the Corporate Solutions Claims Commitment (CCC) service proposition. Select, direct and manage external specialists and vendors, including working with specialists to set appropriate budgets and effectively manage costs.
•    Promoting impactful claims insights via feedback loops and regular interactions, to include scheduled meetings, portfolio reviews to identify claims trends, and/or lessons learned, between functions; and to develop key Corporate Solutions internal partner relationships.
•    Undertaking quarterly quality assurance reviews of your teammates, and share insights arising from these reviews with the central QA team and/or key partners.
•    Handling existing key external claim customer relationships, including brokers, and support growth of new customer relationships by driving the claims value proposition (Claims Commitment).
•    Supporting reporting to external regulators and auditors as required; Provide accurate information and data for Claims' reporting. Staying in sync with internal governance, legal and regulatory requirements.


About You 


You will have, or be able to demonstrate: 
•    A track record running international programme Casualty claims on bespoke and market forms and have a high level of comfort in articulating and selling the benefits of a technology and data-driven solution to international programme delivery.
•    Minimum 8 years claims or insurance industry experience, either as an insurer or risk manager, in the claims' function of broking house, or working as a loss adjuster. A background working in the primary insurance market is crucial, as is a comfort in the technical aspects of claim management.
•    Educated to university degree-level or equivalent insurance or work experience.
•    First experience in leading people is a plus. 
•    Influencing skills with the ability to demonstrate credibility in leadership positions. This opportunity would also suit someone looking to step-up from a technical role into a people-leadership position for the first time, if they can demonstrate the passion and skillset to succeed in this area.
•    A strategic vision and agility. Solve sophisticated problems mentality – ability to think strategically, analytical skills, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into a plan with relentless focus on execution.
•    Consistently demonstrate high quality relationships with commercial insurance clients and brokers; Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, high working flexibility and ability to work effectively under tight deadlines;
•    Fluent in German and English; additional languages (e.g. European) is a plus.
