About the role

Are you good at finding pragmatic solutions to complex problems? Are you interested to further develop sustainability risk and governance frameworks? Swiss Re has a long-standing dedication to sustainability. Over the past decades, we have established a leading position in the re/insurance industry and pioneered many risk-related initiatives and solutions. 


As a Sustainability Risk Management Graduate, your role will be to:
•    monitor external sustainability risk trends and help translate them into re/insurance business practices
•    contribute to the further development of our ESG Risk Framework that identifies and addresses sustainability risks
•    support sustainability assessments of business transactions as part of the ESG risk referral process
•    help to further enhance a sustainability-related risk and control framework
•    work on sustainability-related presentations, briefings, reporting and communication
In addition, you will support other tasks such as ESG research in order to build Swiss Re-wide positions, the development of further risk reporting and risk communication formats, or contributing to sustainability projects with our internal business partners, among others.


About the team
The Sustainability, Emerging & Political Risk Management (SEPRM) team integrates environmental, social and governance risk issues into Swiss Re's business practices and operations, acts as a catalyst for emerging risks and an analyst for political risks. Furthermore, the team scans the horizon for future risks and developments, assess their impact on Swiss Re, and enable integrated and forward-looking decision-making. We therefore play a strong role in early warning, risk mitigation and thought leadership. We also coordinate and manage the company-wide ESG risk framework and selectively represent our sustainability risk efforts externally. We coordinate sustainability matters across the Group, such as with the Group Sustainability and Group Sustainability Reporting teams.


About You
•    Successfully completed university degree with a sustainability focus, e.g. in environmental sciences or engineering, economics or social sciences 
•    Work experience in corporate sustainability or sustainability consulting would be an advantage
•    Strong interest in/motivation to learn about insurance/reinsurance
•    Analytical and problem-solving personality
•    Approaches problems with curiosity and open-mindedness, is a fast learner
•    Innovative, showing a high degree of own initiative
•    Hands-on, proactive, creative and able to work independently
•    Team-player, willingness to contribute actively to the overall team spirit
•    Ability and enthusiasm to work in a global and multicultural environment
•    Aptitude to express yourself effectively in one-on-one conversations and small groups
•    Mature & self-confident; able to work with clients, business partners or senior colleagues
•    Capacity to readily adapt to a changing and dynamic environment
•    Excellent oral and written English skills is a requirement; additional language skills are a strong plus
•    Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
•    Very good communication and interpersonal skills
