Group Sustainability Intern (4-6 months - m/f/x/d, 80%-100%)

About the Role
As a Group Sustainability Intern, you'll be at the forefront of Swiss Re's sustainability strategy, gaining experience in how a global re/insurance leader addresses environmental and social challenges while creating business value.
Key responsibilities:

Contribute to advancing the Group Sustainability Strategy and to implementing strategic ambitions for supporting the net-zero transition and building societal resilience, including co-developing concepts, methodologies and metrics

Drive capability-building and communication by supporting the development of sustainability trainings and resources across the organization

Collaborate cross-functionally with diverse internal stakeholders to advance sustainability initiatives

Research and analyze emerging sustainability trends and their implications for the re/insurance industry
The internship is scheduled for 4-6 months starting in October 2026.
About the Team
At Group Sustainability, we advance Swiss Re's Group Sustainability Strategy as part of the organization's overall Group Strategy. We partner with Business Units and Group Functions to embed sustainability in all aspects of our business and to drive sustainability-related initiatives.
We strive to drive sustainability within our industry, and we quantify and measure our progress. We engage with sustainability partners – including clients, investors, rating agencies and regulators – to identify, assess and steer sustainability topics.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

Ongoing or completed master's level education in sustainability and/or business (e.g., natural sciences, environmental economics, social sciences, economics/business administration)

Relevant previous work experience, internship, or volunteering experience in sustainability (private sector, public sector, or civil society organization) or the re/insurance industry

Agility, curiosity and adaptability to navigate changing priorities, quickly learn new topics and contribute across diverse projects in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex topics clearly, tailor messages to different audiences and create engaging presentations and materials

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and leverage AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to support research, analysis and content creation
Additional nice to haves:

Initial understanding of the re/insurance industry, including sustainability-related challenges and opportunities

Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks or ESG metrics

Data analysis skills and experience with visualization tools

Experience in stakeholder engagement or change management

The base salary range for this position will be shared with you during the interview process.
