Head Event Management (Hybrid; m/f/x/d; 80-100%)

Join us to lead our Event Management function across multiple prestigious Swiss Re locations, where you'll orchestrate memorable corporate events while driving innovation and operational excellence in adynamic global environment. 

 

About the Role 

 

As Head Event Management, you'll oversee the complete event ecosystem across the Centre for Global Dialogue in Rüschlikon, Campus Mythenquai in Zurich, and Soodring in Adliswil. You'll lead a talented team delivering high-impact employee, client, and third-party events while driving strategic initiatives that elevate our event capabilities. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Strategic Leadership - Serve as a key member of the Corporate Real Estate & Services (CRES) Executive Team Zurich, contributing to site-wide decision-making and driving the long-term positioning of our event venues, particularly the Centre for Global Dialogue 

 

  • Team Development - Directly lead Event Management Team Leads and the Event Technology Team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on excellence and innovation 

 

  • Operational Excellence - Ensure flawless execution of all onsite events, overseeing audio-visual services, technical support, and maintaining exceptional quality standards 

 

  • Stakeholder Management - Maintain high-level relationships with senior stakeholders including the Chairman's Office, CEO Office, and collaborate with Brand & Marketing and Group Communications 

 

  • Financial Oversight - Manage comprehensive budget planning, forecasting, and cost controlling the Event Management function, ensuring efficient resource allocation 

 

  • Project Leadership - Spearhead cross-functional initiatives related to event experience enhancement, technology implementation, and site development 

 

  • Continuous Improvement - Identify trends, innovations, and best practices to strengthen capabilities and elevate customer experience 

 

About the Team 

 

Swiss Re's Event Management team, part of Corporate Real Estate & Services (CRES) Zurich, plans and delivers a wide range of events for internal and external customers as required by the business. Comprising 14 professionals, including the Head of Event Management, the team ensures every event meets Swiss Re’s high standards of quality and reflects our brand image. They support diverse business divisions and coordinate seamlessly with our supplier network to fulfill requirements efficiently. 

 

Operating across three key locations, the team combines technical expertise, logistical precision, and exceptional service to create impactful event experiences that advance Swiss Re’s business objectives. 

 

 

About You 

 

You're a visionary leader who combines strategic thinking with hands-on event management expertise. Your ability to build relationships at all levels, from team members to executive stakeholders, enables you to deliver exceptional experience while driving operational excellence. You thrive in dynamic environments and are passionate about developing talent and fostering innovation. 

 

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements: 

 

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a comparable Head-level leadership position with demonstrated success in multicultural and cross-functional environments 

 

  • More than 5 years of professional experience in event and project management, including budget responsibility and supplier management 

 

  • Excellent planning, organizational, and project management capabilities with strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills 

 

  • Proven ability to interact confidently with senior executives and high-level stakeholders 

 

  • Fluency in German (C1) and English (C1) (additional languages are an advantage) 

 

These are additional nice things to haves: 

 

  • Degree in Hospitality, Marketing, Economics or a related field 

 

  • Experience with branding, digital media and other event-related disciplines 

 

  • Knowledge of trends and best practices in corporate events 

 

  • Strong negotiation skills combined with an entrepreneurial mindset 

 

  • Creativity and the ability to design impactful event experiences 

 

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week. 

 

 

For Switzerland, the base salary range for this position is between CHF 100'000 and CHF 150'000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:  

 

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role, 

  • the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialization, skills and experience. 
     

In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range. 
 
In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based bonus.
