Head L&H Experience Studies EMEA (Hybrid - m/f/x/d - 80-100%)

About the Role: 

 

This role within the CUO L&H Re / L&H Portfolio Steering & Monitoring team is reporting into the Head OVAL & Global Experience Studies that involves of key responsibilities that contribute to the team and Swiss Re.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure investigations into client's and Swiss Re's mortality and morbidity experience are conducted in order to obtain insights into performance drivers
  • Actively conduct experience studies, 
  • Define and align study priorities with key pricing and valuation stakeholders in MU UK & MEA and CE as well as with CUO and RM
  • Promote and share insights obtained from investigations to key stakeholder for assumption setting and to make more informed business decisions
  • Deliver study result presentations and reports to clients to enhance Swiss Re's brand and visibility in Life & Health reinsurance
  • Promote experience studies approach to selected clients to maximise business opportunities and gain client and market knowledge
  • Monitor costing accuracy and propose actions within the Smart Circle framework
  • Define ToT BE costing assumptions and draft the ToT documents for CE, based on study insights and market/industry data and studies 
  • Lead the ES EMEA team
  • Ensure compliance with global experience governance standards, methods and process requirements
  • Embrace the new ES ecosystem and contribute to/drive projects that aim to improve and/or enable standardised ES result/data capturing as well as ES result reporting/benchmarking
  • Collaborate with TA and Data Management & Insights team to enhance the quality and amount of client data on SR admin systems analysed by ES EMEA  

 

About the Team:

 

The L&H Portfolio Steering & Monitoring (PSM) team, part of the Chief Underwriting Office (CUO) L&H Re, aims to generate insights that help steer the Life & Health (L&H) business toward sustainable profitability. To achieve this, PSM collaborates closely with market units and other functions within the L&H community to maximize value and manage portfolio risks. The OVAL and Global Experience Studies team within PSM is responsible for managing the OVAL portfolio, for performing experience studies in EMEA and for developing the global experience studies approach and platform.

 

The experience studies EMEA team will provide insights through performing regular experience analyses in EMEA for the reinsured portfolio, on data shared for tenders as well as market studies. Within the smart circle framework, insights from experience studies will be pro-actively shared with relevant parties to report costing accuracy, to validate and update costing as well as reserving assumptions etc... Furthermore, insights will be shared with further stakeholders, also including external parties such as e.g. clients. Experience studies are performed according to global and standardised processes, methods and tools. The team is actively contributing to the development of global tools that support the generation of ES, managing ES results and insights as well as reporting of ES results and benchmarking.  


About You: 

 

You are a qualified L&H actuary, with 10+ years' experience in L&H reserving and/or costing across reinsurance and/or primary insurance. You are a proactive and solution-oriented mind-set with a hands-on mentality. With your experience in conducting L&H experience studies and leadership you have the ability to interact with colleagues across all levels of the organization and across technical disciplines.
