Head of Enterprise Architecture Delivery

About the Role 

Swiss Re is seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to assume the role of Head of Enterprise Architecture Delivery. You will lead enterprise architecture delivery across Swiss Re’s most critical strategic initiatives, ensuring the definition and implementation of sustainable, compliant, and future-ready target architectures. 

 

In this role, you will shape and evolve Swiss Re’s business and technology landscape in close alignment with corporate strategy, regulatory requirements, and long-term value creation objectives. You and your team will be at the forefront of solving complex enterprise-wide challenges, elevating business, application, data, and technology architectures to the next level.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Enterprise Architecture Leadership & Delivery 

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of Enterprise Architects driving Swiss Re’s most critical strategic initiatives. 
  • Own and drive enterprise architecture delivery across large-scale, complex transformation programs, ensuring measurable business value and execution excellence. 
  • Oversee the successful translation of target architecture blueprints into implemented, operational solutions. 
  • Foster a strong culture of architecture excellence, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. 
  • Enable career development, talent growth, and a value-driven, collaborative mindset within the EA Delivery team and wider architecture community. 

 

2. Target Architecture & Governance 

  • Define, evolve, and govern sustainable, scalable, and compliant target architectures aligned with Swiss Re’s business and technology strategy. 
  • Balance enterprise-wide consistency with domain-specific requirements, ensuring pragmatic and future-proof architectural outcomes. 
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise standards, regulatory requirements, security principles, and risk management frameworks. 
  • Navigate the full spectrum of architecture disciplines including business, application, data and technical architecture 
  • Safeguard architectural integrity and quality through robust governance and design controls. 

 

3. Collaboration & Design Authority 

  • Collaborate closely with Domain Architects to ensure strong alignment between enterprise-wide and domain architectures. 
  • Serve as a key member of the Design Authority, providing oversight, challenge, and decision-making to uphold architectural standards. 
  • Contribute actively to the Enterprise Architecture Leadership Team, shaping the strategic direction of architecture at Swiss Re. 

 

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Influence 

  • Engage, influence, and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across business and technology functions. 
  • Communicate complex architectural concepts clearly and effectively to audiences at all organizational levels, including executive leadership. 
  • Act as a strategic advisor, ensuring architecture decisions enable business priorities and long-term value creation. 

 

 

About you 

  • Education: Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience). 
  • Experience: 10+ years in enterprise architecture, architecture operations, business transformation, program delivery or similar roles in global organizations. 
  • Proven track record of successful delivery of architectures for large transformation programs 
  • Strong understanding of architecture frameworks, governance models, and performance management. 
  • Proven ability to collaborate with various leadership levels and influence in a complex, matrixed environment. 
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. 
  • Experience leading teams across global locations. 
  • Familiarity with EA tools, data-driven performance reporting, and KPI frameworks. 
  • TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture certification is an asset. 
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken) 

 

About the team

As part of the Enterprise Architecture Leadership Team, you will shape together with Lead Domain Architects how architecture drives business strategy, innovation, and operational excellence on a global scale. 

 

For Switzerland, the base salary range for this position is between CHF 164,000 and CHF 246,000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
  • the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.

In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Further you will enjoy a variety of global and location specific benefits.
