IFRS Financial Reporting Specialist (Temporary - 2 years; Hybrid; m/f/x/d; 80-100%)

Are you passionate about financial reporting, transformation, and making a real impact on how a global organisation accounts for its future? If you thrive at the intersection of accounting, technology, and innovation — this is your opportunity to shape the next generation of financial reporting at Swiss Re.

About the Role

We are looking for a driven and curious IFRS Analyst to join the IFRS Subledger Controlling Team within Group Finance Operations & Transformation (GFO&T) on a temporary contract for 2 years. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with IFRS 17 and play an active role in the FPSL implementation — a programme that will fundamentally reshape Swiss Re's financial accounting and reporting operating model.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of Accounting and Actuarial Business Experts, Information Architects, Business Analysts, and Developers — contributing to the design, testing, and implementation of efficient financial production processes across all valuations and Business Segments. You will bring insights, constructively challenge ideas, and help drive automation and process simplification that addresses real business pain points.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support quarterly closing activities, taking ownership of dedicated checks and validations to ensure accuracy and consistency of financial data
  • Build and communicate a clear view of financial results, identifying and articulating the main drivers of quarterly financial impact
  • Support incident resolution, working collaboratively to investigate, diagnose, and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Redesign and improve the validations framework, identifying inefficiencies and areas where automation can deliver meaningful gains
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Risk Management, FP&A, Regional Finance, IT, and other key stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions
  • Act with autonomy within delegated authority areas, making informed decisions and contributing to best-practice outcomes

About the Team

Global Finance Operations & Transformation (GFO&T) is the engine behind the accounting and reporting of accurate, consistent financial information across Swiss Re — supporting both external reporting and internal strategic decision-making. The team's scope spans IFRS for the Group as well as statutory financial reporting for all Swiss Re legal entities, including SST and Solvency II compliance.

GFO&T is at the forefront of transforming Group Finance — driving simplification, efficiency, and a forward-looking operating model that positions Swiss Re for the future.

We are a high-performing team of approximately 50 professionals with diverse strengths and backgrounds, primarily based across Bangalore, Bratislava, and Zurich. We pride ourselves on a friendly, collaborative, and energetic team culture where every voice is valued.

About You

You are an analytical, intellectually curious professional who enjoys working at the crossroads of finance, technology, and transformation. You bring a proactive mindset, communicate clearly across disciplines, and are energised by solving complex problems in a collaborative, international environment. You are comfortable managing your own workload while remaining open to guidance and mentorship when needed.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • IFRS 17 knowledge — a solid understanding of IFRS 17 principles, including methods for calculating policy liabilities and market consistent valuation methods
  • Financial reporting expertise — experience with IFRS financial reporting processes, including quarterly closing, validations, and controls
  • Programming and version control experience — hands-on experience developing small-scale projects using tools such as Python, and familiarity with version control systems such as Git

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Experience with SAP Financial Products Subledger (FPSL) or similar subledger systems
  • Familiarity with Life & Health (L&H) insurance products and the L&H value chain
  • Experience working in a cross-functional or multinational environment, collaborating with actuarial, IT, and finance teams
  • Exposure to process automation or digitalisation initiatives within a finance or reporting context
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to think independently and present findings clearly
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with global business partners across locations and time zone
