Junior Accountant (working student - m/f/x/d; 40-100%)

Join our dynamic group reporting team while completing your studies! We're looking for a curious, detail-oriented, analytical working student with strong numerical aptitude to support our Group IFRS Reporting team on a flexible basis, part-time during your studies with opportunities to increase to full-time during peak periods related to financial closing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and prepare financial reports and IFRS disclosures with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Collect and validate data for comprehensive financial reporting purposes
  • Collaborate with global internal business partners including Business Units, Asset Management, Treasury and Investor Relations to resolve complex issues
  • Provide insights to management with relevant information for business steering, including handling ad hoc requests
  • Analyze and evaluate business drivers and understand their connections to financial results
  • Foster teamwork through close cooperation and interaction within our diverse team

About the Team

We are the Group's reliable provider of consolidated financial information, supporting both internal and external stakeholders in making well-informed decisions. We act as the centre of competence for financial reporting across Swiss Re. We are a professional, engaged and dedicated team of around 20 people, based right next to the lake of Zurich, consisting of a group of international, forward-thinking personalities with various backgrounds, all thriving in a hectic, fast-paced environment that requires focus, interest in the business, and, most importantly, team spirit.

About You

You're an intellectually curious, motivated individual with strong analytical abilities and excellent interpersonal skills. You have a structured approach to work, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage your time effectively between studies and professional responsibilities. You thrive in collaborative environments, take initiative, and are eager to learn and grow in the financial sector. Your positive attitude and ability to navigate complex information while maintaining attention to detail make you an ideal candidate for our team.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Currently enrolled student in finance, accounting, business administration or related field at a university or university of applied sciences
  • Knowledge of IFRS or interest in international reporting and accounting matters with a flair for numbers
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture
  • Very good communication skills in English and confidence to work with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Demonstrate personal accountability on required outcomes
  • Stress resilient, with the ability to work independently

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Previous internship or work experience in accounting or finance
  • Experience with financial systems or databases
  • Understanding of the insurance/reinsurance industry

 

Preferred start: June 2026, subject to availability and mutual agreement.
