L&H Underwriting Governance Lead (Hybrid; m/f/x/d; 80-100%)
Are you a governance expert with a passion for shaping the future of Life & Health reinsurance? Do you thrive at the intersection of strategy, risk, and innovation? If so, this is your opportunity to leave a lasting mark on a global organization — driving governance excellence across one of the world's leading reinsurance companies.
About the Role
This is a high-impact, high-visibility role at the heart of Swiss Re's L&H underwriting governance. You will be instrumental in shaping the governance framework that underpins our global L&H business — translating strategic priorities and risk appetite into effective, future-ready governance practices. Working across a rich and diverse stakeholder landscape, you will help operationalize the next generation of data- and technology-enabled underwriting governance, driving alignment, portfolio performance, and sustainable growth on a global stage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and evolve the L&H underwriting governance framework, standards, and authorities to ensure they remain robust, relevant, and aligned with business strategy
- Drive Underwriting Standards (UWS) updates and clarifications, ensuring clarity and consistency across the organization
- Manage the Costing Authority Framework, including recertification processes and the granting of authorities
- Monitor and report on risk accumulation in line with UWS requirements, tracking adherence to governance, authorities, and referral quality — and taking timely remediation action where needed
- Maintain and strengthen the underwriting operating model, tools, processes, and controls to keep them fit for purpose
- Own governance requirements and business support for key underwriting tools, including Quote Tracker, LHAD, and the ToT Database
- Adapt workflows, data capture, and controls to ensure they remain aligned with evolving business needs
- Deliver governance activities including audits, reporting, remediation, and transformation initiatives
- Support the 1st line with Internal Risk Review (IRR) and audit findings, facilitating effective resolution
- Set governance metrics and reporting frameworks to provide meaningful insights to senior stakeholders
- Drive governance transformation initiatives (e.g., AwAI) and champion adoption across the organization
