Operations Manager, Group Internal Audit (GIA) Office (Hybrid; m/f/x/d; 80-100%)
Are you a strategic powerhouse who thrives at the intersection of leadership, governance, and transformation? Do you have a talent for turning big-picture thinking into real, measurable impact — and for building trusted partnerships at the very top of an organisation? If you're ready to shape the strategic direction of a world-class internal audit function, this is your moment.
About the Role
As an Operations Manager, GIA Office, you will be a key strategic partner to the Chief Audit Executive (CAE), COO GIA, and the broader GIA Extended Leadership Team. This is a high-influence, high-visibility role at the heart of Group Internal Audit — where you will drive the development and execution of GIA's strategy, shape governance frameworks, and lead transformation initiatives that define the future of the function. If you are energised by complexity, motivated by impact, and skilled at navigating senior stakeholder environments, this role will give you the platform to do your best work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shape and execute GIA strategy: Lead the development and hands-on execution of GIA's strategic priorities and transformation agenda, translating high-level direction into clear, actionable plans and delivering measurable outcomes
- Be a trusted executive partner: Act as a strategic advisor and thought partner to the CAE, COO GIA, and Leadership/Extended Leadership Team — combining insight with practical follow-through, supporting decision-making through sharp analysis, and implementable recommendations
- Construct executive-ready communications and presentations: Develop and coordinate high-impact materials for senior forums including Leadership Team meetings, GEC sessions, and Audit Committee inputs — ensuring clarity, precision, and end-to-end ownership of deliverables
- Lead governance design and oversight: Shape, implement, and continuously run GIA's governance frameworks and management routines, ensuring alignment with IIA standards, internal policies, and regulatory expectations
- Drive consistency across the function: Actively embed and enforce governance standards and strategic priorities across audit units and regions, ensuring consistent application in practice
- Manage senior stakeholder relationships: Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across GIA and the wider Group, acting as a central coordination and execution point for strategic topics and cross-functional alignment
- Champion change and transformation: Lead and deliver operating model changes, driving implementation, adoption and continuous improvement to enhance GIA's effectiveness, agility, and long-term impact
- Bridge strategy and business priorities: Translate strategy into operational execution, aligning audit activities with broader business objectives and ensuring tangible value delivery.
About the Team
The GIA Office sits within the Chief Operating Office GIA and is the operational backbone of Swiss Re's Group Internal Audit function. The team exists to ensure GIA runs effectively, consistently, and in line with the highest regulatory and internal audit standards. From providing strategic support to senior leadership, to owning governance processes and reporting, to driving cross-functional coordination, the GIA Office plays a pivotal role in driving the overall effectiveness and performance of GIA worldwide.
About You
You are a strategic thinker and trusted advisor who combines intellectual rigour with the ability to inspire action at the most senior levels. You are equally comfortable shaping long-term direction and rolling up your sleeves to deliver. You navigate ambiguity with confidence, influence outcomes without direct authority, and bring a clear focus on value creation to everything you do. Your communication is polished, your judgement is sound, and your presence commands credibility in any room.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Proven strategic thinking and execution capability, with demonstrated experience translating complex strategic priorities into actionable plans and delivering results in a large organisation
- Strong executive stakeholder management, with a track record of building credibility and influence at leadership level and acting as a trusted partner to senior leadership
- Expertise in governance framework design and oversight, including knowledge of IIA standards, internal audit methodologies, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Exceptional communication and executive presentation skills, with experience preparing and delivering high-quality materials for board-level, audit committee, and senior leadership audiences
- Experience leading or supporting transformation and change initiatives, including operating model design, continuous improvement, and cross-functional strategic projects
These are additional nice to haves:
- Background in internal audit, risk management, or compliance within a large, complex financial services organisation
- Familiarity with GIA performance frameworks, KPI design, and management information reporting at a strategic level
- Experience working across international or multi-regional teams, with an appreciation for cultural nuance and global operating models
- Exposure to organisational design or operating model transformation programmes
- Demonstrated ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, managing competing priorities and delivering quality under pressure in a fast-paced environment
