About the role

The Swiss Re Life Capital Origination team is responsible for identifying, evaluating and executing acquisitions of life and non-life insurance portfolios and / or companies across Europe, US and Asia.

The Analyst would support the origination, and execution of M&A transactions and are responsible for market research, target and industry analysis. The Analyst would assist the Origination team in the sourcing of potential acquisitions and interact with a wide number of functions from across the Swiss Re Life Capital and Swiss Re Group, as well as clients and financial services professionals.

The Analyst will also support the Life Capital CFO on special projects and thus have direct exposure to senior leaders within Life Capital.  The Analyst may be expected to travel depending on the requirements of the role.


Main tasks/activities/responsibilities:

The Analyst on the Origination team is responsible for

  • Transaction identification & origination
  • Lead analysis on potential acquisition targets and research on market opportunities, industry trends and potential strategies
  • Structure and valuation of potential transactions
  • Preparing internal and external presentations
  • Developing marketing materials


Transaction evaluation

  • Support due diligence on transactions
  • Communicating diligence results to senior members of Life Capital and Swiss Re management
  • Managing external advisors
  • Managing due diligence and logistics
  • Developing and analyzing financial models


Transaction execution

  • Support financial and legal structuring
  • Support the transaction approval process
  • Preparing of materials for decision making


Special Projects

  • Support financial analysis on specific projects for the Life Capital CFO


Team organization

  • Tracking and coordinating key internal and external relationships


Job requirements

  • Substantial experience (circa 2-4 years) in Investment Banking, Financial Services, or the in-house Business Development / M&A team of a leading financial institution;
  • Good knowledge of US and European financial services industry; insurance experience is a plus
  • ACA or similar accounting qualification desirable
  • Master's in finance, economics or similar quantitative discipline desirable
  • Experience in financial modelling and valuation methodology
  • Advanced Excel modelling, Word and PowerPoint knowledge
  • Fluency in English; other European languages advantageous
  • Analytical rigor, reliable, accurate and with attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to collect and synthesize large amounts of information
  • Strong project management skills with ability to work independently and proactively on multiple projects and to strict deadlines
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and a team player comfortable working in demanding, fast paced environment
  • Drive, enthusiasm and strong work ethic
  • Willingness to travel
