Product Manager Agriculture (Hybrid - m/f/x/d - 80-100%)

About the Role

 

In this role you will be part of the Agricultural Product Center supporting the global team in the development of methodologies, tools, and products, taking on project management roles and supporting the Agricultural Management Team.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Co-Own and develop the global agriculture underwriting tool landscape, ensuring effective deployment, user adoption, and delivery of high-quality trainings across all regions.

  • Drive the development and implementation of advanced quantitative methodologies to enhance costing, pricing, forecasting, and portfolio-optimization capabilities.

  • Safeguard and continuously maintain underwriting standards to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with Agriculture's underlying business and its strategic objectives

  • Lead the integration and governance of AI-driven solutions within the agriculture underwriting ecosystem, ensuring responsible adoption, enhanced decision-support capabilities, and continuous improvement of digital underwriting processes.

  • Collaborate with Agricultural Management Team on governance, reporting, and strategic steering topics and facilitation of Smart Circles.

  • Harmonise costing standards across regions, designing and delivering underwriting training

  • Assume underwriting responsibility for selected markets, covering both treaty and facultative business across all agriculture sublines

  • Contribute to global and cross-functional workstreams, supporting initiatives of both the broader Swiss Re Group and Global Specialty

 

About the Team

 

The agriculture team is part of the Specialty Market Unit embedded in the P&C Reinsurance Business Units. The Agriculture Underwriters team responsible for EMEA operate from Zurich (Switzerland). By joining us you will be part of a dynamic group of specialists and will benefit from profound experience. You will closely cooperate with internal and external stakeholders from underwriting, reserving, IT, and governance.

 

About You

 

You are a self-motivated expert, curious with excellent communication skills and a commercial mind-set. You are recognised for being an excellent team player, happy to assist others, collaborating and transparent. You can handle complex projects and are flexible and able to adapt to different environments and cultural diversity.

 

Skills, Capabilities and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant re/insurance industry experience

  • University degree in a quantitative field such as finance, mathematics/statistics, actuarial or natural science or agriculture

  • Strong data science/analytic and problem-solving skills.

  • Sound understanding of econometrics/statistics, previous exposure to quantitative finance methods an advantage

  • Programming skills in Python or R as well as Microsoft Office.

  • Experience in project management, automation, and tool development.

  • Familiarity with AI-driven methods or AI-supported workflows is an advantage.

  • Comfortable working in a reinsurance underwriting environment.

  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a global, culturally diverse setting.

  • Excellent oral and written English; additional languages are an asset.
