Products Actuary (Hybrid - m/f/x/d - 80-100%)

We are offering an outstanding opportunity to join a cross functional team investigating the performance of Swiss Re's Life and Health business both using experience studies and by the handling of a strategic Life and Health reinsurance deal. Your challenge is to analyse and communicate the risks in the insurance risk portfolio for management to take actions, maintaining future profitability.

 

About the Role

 

You will support both the EMEA Experience Studies Lead and Pricing Lead Actuaries with several activities. The role will provide a broad exposure to L&H business in Europe.

 

Key Responsibilities:
•    Conduct experience studies covering major L&H lines of business
•    Promote and share insights obtained from investigations to key stakeholders, facilitating assumption setting and enabling more informed business decisions
•    Define Costing basis assumptions and draft the documents for CE based on study insights and market/industry data
•    Ensure compliance with global experience governance standards, methods, and process requirements
•    Review offers referred to Swiss Re and manage internal approval process
•    Review new products/new markets proposal and make recommendations on course of action to the Products Lead
•    Review and update client UW and costing guidelines
•    Perform costing and underwriting reviews at the client to assess UW decisions and compliance with agreed frameworks

 

About the Team 

 

The experience studies team is an international unit, monitoring and analyzing European Life and Health experience, to ensure correct assumptions are used for pricing and reserving of the portfolio to maintain long term profitability. 

The deal oversight team is a small cross functional unit, responsible for the management of a reinsurance deal with a single large client. We ensure that in force business and future new business is actively managed to add customer value to the Swiss Re group.  

 

About You

 

Are you an effective team worker with strong interpersonal skills who enjoys building working relationships across technical subject areas and work optimally across the L&H value chain, including non-actuaries?

 

Essentials
•    Qualified actuary, with 3-7 years of experience in either L&H reinsurance or primary insurance
•    Strong communicator, including being capable of presenting and discussing results with clients and internal stakeholders
•    Written and verbal proficiency in English is required
•    Prior experience with Python and/or R 

Nice to Haves
•    German, French, Italian, Dutch or any other European languages are an asset
