Senior Data Engineer (80-100%)

About the role & the team :

 

Our team is at the forefront of analytics for Property & Casualty Reinsurance, spanning the entire breadth of our business. We build analytical products that focus on everything from Contract Wording to Natural Catastrophes, enabling the company to accurately manage our risks. Our work has an impact not only on SwissRe but also on the world. 

From day one you will work on developing modern data solutions with a focus on big data technologies to solve complex problems on real data, in a collaborative environment with colleagues from Swiss Re's international offices. 

 

A regular day with us: 

  • Work on projects with an impact 

  • Provide technical leadership to a small team of engineers 

  • Design data products in collaboration with Product Owners and other Engineering teams 

  • Implement production ready data solutions 

  • Ensure the reliability, quality, and optimal performance of our data products 

 

About You: 

  • Excellent engineering skills and proficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferred) 

  • Proficient with big data frameworks (PySpark is preferred) 

  • Expertise in at least one modern data platform (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake, Foundry) 

  • Experience with system design, data modelling, and data lifecycle 

  • Ability to transpose business requirements into data products 

 

Nice to Have: 

  • Previous technical leadership experience 

  • Knowledge of Palantir Foundry 

  • Previous experience in Insurance/Finance
