Senior SAP FPSL Specialist - IFRS17 / Subledger

About the Role

 

We are seeking a highly specialized Senior IT Subledger Specialist with deep expertise in subledger solutions, SAP FPSL, and IFRS-related financial reporting. The role sits within Finance Data & Technology (D&T) Subledger Systems and is responsible for driving transformation, ensuring operational excellence, and enabling compliant and efficient financial reporting across a global re/insurance environment.

 

This is a strategic position requiring advanced functional and technical expertise in insurance accounting subledger platforms and hands-on experience in complex, multi-jurisdictional regulatory environments.

 

About the Team

 

You will join an established international product team responsible for the global FPSL subledger liability platform, enabling IFRS-compliant financial closings across multiple countries. The team operates in a complex system landscape integrating SAP FPSL on SAP HANA, actuarial engines, data hubs, and downstream reporting systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Translate complex financial, accounting, and regulatory requirements into robust SAP FPSL solutions.
  • Lead system enhancements, configuration, and optimization of FPSL components to support IFRS17 and other regulatory reporting needs.
  • Design and review technical components within SAP FPSL, including data integrations, SAP HANA SQL transformations, and ABAP-related logic.
  • Manage end-to-end operational activities including quarter-end closing cycles, incident/defect analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for FPSL architecture, data models, posting logic, and performance optimization.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (Finance, Actuarial, Data, Technology) on feature design, testing, and implementation.
  • Provide guidance to developers and analysts supporting FPSL, ensuring adherence to standards and quality expectations.
  • Document and standardize processes to support scalable and sustainable subledger operations.

 

Required Skills & Experience (Strict Criteria)

 

To ensure only highly qualified specialists apply, candidates must meet all of the following requirements:

 

Education & Domain Expertise

 

  • University degree in a technical, financial, or business field.
  • Extensive hands-on experience working as an IT Subledger Specialist with SAP FPSL in live production environments, including multiple closing cycles.
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS17 (GMM, PAA, reinsurance) and experience supporting re/insurance applications.
  • Expert-level SQL skills on SAP HANA.
  • Working-level knowledge of Java.
  • Experience with FPSL-related automation, testing, and operational tooling such as CVPM, QMate, incident handling tools, and DevOps pipelines.

Change, Delivery & Leadership Experience

 

  • Proven experience leading teams or guiding developers/analysts in FPSL or financial reporting system topics.
  • Demonstrated ownership of product changes, operational improvements, and end-to-end delivery in complex system landscapes.
  • Strong focus on process standardization, optimization, and documentation.

Additional Relevant Experience (Highly Advantageous)

 

  • Exposure to ServiceNOW for incident/problem management.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (SCRUM/Kanban).
  • Hands-on work with Azure DevOps and Confluence.
  • Knowledge of IFRS9, SAP Banking Analyzer, or SAP Insurance Analyzer.

 

For Switzerland, the base salary range for this position is between CHF 106,000 and CHF 158,000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:

·the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
·the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
