About the Role

 

As a Specialty Data and Analytics Specialist, you'll work at the intersection of underwriting expertise and data analytics, helping to implement data-informed decision-making across our Specialty Market Unit. Based in Zurich, you'll contribute to our analytics products while supporting the broader data strategy within one of the largest Market Units in P&C Reinsurance. This role offers opportunities to develop your skills and take on increasing responsibilities as you demonstrate your capabilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Own and lead as a Product Manager for key Analytics products, taking ownership of product development from requirements gathering to implementation and translating business needs into effective solutions
  • Drive product development as a Data and Analytics Specialist, including hands-on data product prototyping, analysis, and business requirement specification
  • Collaborate closely with both, our Specialty business teams as well as our expert Data &Technology colleagues who drive the technical implementation
  • Support the Specialty Analytics value stream, contributing to the Specialty Data &Technology vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with both Specialty-specific tools and the broader P&C landscape
  • Promote data literacy and contribute to a data-driven culture within the Specialty Underwriting community

 

About the Team

 

The Specialty Transformation team owns the strategic roadmap and change management of Specialty tools, data, and UW processes, which includes both Facultative and Treaty business. It drives the Specialty data and tech strategy and is responsible for the adaptation of tools and data services within Specialty.

 

In this role, you'll collaborate closely with underwriting teams and partnering functions, including Product & Delivery Team, UW Excellence, and UW transformation. The team is part of the Specialty Centre, enabling the Global Specialty Market Unit according to the Centre mandate of "build, advise, steer".

 

We are a global team of 200+ specialists for Agriculture, Aviation, Cyber, Engineering, Marine and Nuclear Risks.

 

About You

 

You're a detail-oriented professional who can effectively balance analytical work with stakeholder management and practical problem-solving. You thrive in collaborative, multicultural environments and can clearly communicate complex ideas to various audiences. Your strong work ethic, growth mindset, and ability to manage multiple priorities are complemented by experience in data-driven projects. Well-organized and results-oriented, you excel at delivering quality outcomes on schedule. Most importantly, you're eager to develop your strategic thinking and leadership skills as you grow toward greater responsibility.

 

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

 

  • University degree in actuarial science, economics, mathematics, computer science, or a similar field
  • Multi-year professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or related fields
  • Experience with data projects and demonstrated analytical/quantitative skills
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills

 

These are additional nice to haves:

 

  • Experience in the (re)insurance industry, particularly with knowledge of Specialty lines
  • Programming skills in R, Python, or other related languages
  • Product management experience
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques and applications
  • Experience working in global, virtual teams
  • Additional language skills beyond English

 

For Switzerland, the base salary range for this position is between 100,000 CHF and 150,000 CHF for a full-time role.

The specific salary offered considers:

  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role
  • the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialization, skills and experience

In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range. In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based annual bonus.

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week
