Strategic Initiatives Analyst or Specialist

Our Clients, Steering & ALM (CS&A) Strategic Initiatives team has a great opportunity for an Analyst or Specialist to support strategic initiatives within the CS&A department!

 

Please NoteThis role can be an Associate (Analyst) or an Assistant Vice President (Specialist) role depending on the existing skills and level of experience of the successful candidate.

 

About the Role

 

The CS&A Strategic Initiatives team within CS&A works to support the Head of CS&A with strategic initiatives and streamlining efficiencies as well as to act as the Head of CS&A's Chief of Staff function. The Strategic Initiatives Analyst or Specialist will work to support implementation of broader strategic initiatives including enabling a sufficient information exchange between Head CS&A, broader team, and stakeholders (clients, strategic partners, support functions, etc.)

 

Additional key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Work with other teams of CS&A to identify strategic business opportunities and team synergies as well as efficiently executing on resolutions
  • Coordinate the completion and optimization of Head of CS&A's committee meeting materials and departmental deliverables
  • Contribute to major change initiatives from a CS&A perspective
  • Manage the process around existing peer analysis team in analyzing peer investment strategies and highlighting market trends to improve SRAM's investment decisions
  • PAA and Long-term SAA Planning – support CS&A involvement in yearly SAA planning process and evaluation of long-term SAA plan
  • SAA implementation support with coordinate execution of approved portfolio actions
  • Support Team Leads of CS&A on Asset Liability Management (ALM) coordination and implementation
  • Coordinate dialogue with key Market Heads to determine potential Asset Management (AM) value-add to the business as well as ensuring alignment with strategic goals
  • Support work and relationship needs for Business Units where applicable
  • Support talent development initiatives of broader CS&A team, including but not limited to, personal development strategies and knowledge share sessions

 

About You

 

You are a self-starter with strong work ethic and genuine willingness to learn.  You bring excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills which enable you to enjoy and be at ease working in an international environment.  A track record of strong organizational and analytical skills, ability to multi-task and proactively manage several projects at a time will lend to your success in this role!

 

Additional requirements include:

 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Management, Finance, Economics, or another related field.
  • Holding a CFA, FRM or actuarial designation is a plus.
  • For an Analyst:  Minimum of 1 to 2 years meaningful experience in the insurance or financial services industry; experience within an insurance company investment function a plus.
  • For a Specialist:  Minimum of 2 to 4 years meaningful experience in the insurance or financial services industry and experience within an insurance company investment function.
  • Knowledge of (re)insurance business, regulation, taxes and accounting.
  • Knowledge of major asset classes, investment types, investment analytics and risk management models.

 

 

About the Team

 

The CS&A team is responsible for managing the group's ALM, from both a hedging perspective as well as any strategic or tactical positioning relative to the liabilities. It supports various internal clients with portfolio strategy and management, with a key focus on legal entity relationship management and portfolio steering. It provides input to the SAA planning and implementation and plays a key role in steering the overall portfolio throughout the year. This includes providing insight into internal (legal entity and group), macro/market and peer considerations. CS&A also partners closely with Finance to analyze, project, and manage the investment result.

 

 

For New York City the estimated base salary range for this position is $68,000 to $145,000.  The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.  At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions.
