Sustainability Risk Intern (6-months - m/f/x/d, 80-100%)

About the Role  

The Sustainability Risk Management team integrates environmental, social and governance risk issues into Swiss Re's business. We do this by scanning the horizon for future risks and developments, assessing their impact on Swiss Re, and enabling forward-looking decision-making. We also coordinate and oversee the company wide ESG Risk Framework and selectively represent our sustainability risk efforts externally.  

   

As an intern in Sustainability Risk Management, you:  

   

  • Contribute to key sustainability projects on nature and climate risk, with a focus on project work and documenting processes.  

  • Work on core tasks of the team, including managing data on sustainability risks.  

  • Will gain experience working on or managing multi-disciplinary projects that touch upon very diverse areas of the Group 

 

About the Team 

Sustainability Risk Management has a team of 10 people based in Zurich, from diverse range of countries and backgrounds, including environmental science, engineering, legal, human geography and more. We collaborate daily with colleagues across Swiss Re, creating a vibrant, interdisciplinary environment where your voice matters. 

 

About You

Your can-do attitude helps you stay motivated and adaptable, even in dynamic situations.  

 

Ideal candidates will have: 

  

  • A Master's level education in an area of sustainability (e.g. natural sciences, environmental economics, social sciences etc.)   

  • Experience in a diverse and global environment 

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)  

  • Relevant previous internship or volunteering experience (e.g. on corporate responsibility, in an NGO, public sector etc.) 

  • Demonstrates strong data, AI and quantitative fluency, leveraging modern analytical approaches beyond traditional Excel-based workflows. 

  • Project management experience 

  • Proficiency in further languages is a plus   

 

The intern position will start on October 1st and last for 6 months.
