About the Role

 

Are you a senior technology leader with a hands-on approach to coaching and guiding technologists to deliver solutions along strategic directions?

 

If this sounds like you, then you have the prerequisites needed to be a Tech Area Leader in Swiss Re and a new member of our team!

 

The primary responsibility as a Tech Area Lead is the overall technology delivery for an Alliance, including a few Product Areas. We believe in a joint leadership model. Together with your colleagues, the business Alliance lead, Product Area Leaders and Tech Leaders, the team will resolve priority challenges and ensure that technology can support the organization's goal. You will align technology strategy with fellow Tech Area Leads to improve technology investments and decide where experimentation is warranted to innovate and drive practices and technology forward.

 

The responsibility of the Product Areas technical personnel, including coordination with vendors is also part of the role. We have also colleagues outside of the department that would need your time and dedication. As a mentor to people you will drive collaboration and knowledge sharing to benefit the areas you are close to.

  • Are hands-on technologists, passionate about technology, eager to learn new technologies, inspiring your teams and sharing your knowledge

  • Have extensive experience in managing agile cross-functional and continuous delivery teams

  • Are a great mentor, strong relationship builder and a confident communicator with the ability to facilitate the technical skills of people they lead

  • Are data driven and a pragmatic problem solver with an eye for business who loves creating order out of uncertainty and thinks strategically about tough trade-offs

  • Have a resilient personality, comfortable with change and able to get over setbacks and motivate peers to do the same

  • Have the ability to listen, comprehend the vision, challenge requirements and work out a realistic design

 

About the Team

 

  • The team consists of Tech Leads for each Product Area who are bringing their rich experience around technology combined with deep business insights to life

  • The team has a consistent record of successful delivery and has a pipeline of tasks for the next few years with a focus on cloud transformation, which is a critical part of digital transformation

 

About You

 

To succeed in this role, you will possess …

  • Demonstrable experience as a technology leader, having lead projects spanning multiple teams or headed an IT division or organization

  • Feel comfortable to work in a transformational and complex environment and can get things done in a fast-paced surrounding

  • Over five years of experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts

  • Substantial Technology background with experience in the transformation of IT landscapes including cloud-native solutions development, operations and knowledge of state-of-the-art technology

  • Sound experience in creating applications with global regulations and data protection guideline requirements

  • Experience in applying technology to seek business challenges and realize vision & strategy

  • Combined agile practices with leadership and management skills across cultures, geographies and organizational levels

  • Committed to continuous learning and self-improvement

  • Excellent sales, negotiation, influencing and presentation skills

  • Finisher attitude by getting things accomplished with a strong commitment to quality and timely customer service

  • At ease with leaving your comfort zone dealing positively with ambiguity

  • Proficiency in English is required
