About the Role

 

An opportunity to be a critical part of a successful team working in the London Insurance market. The successful candidate will be part of a small and specialised team of experienced Underwriters, focused on profitable underwriting of Offshore & Onshore Energy risks and supporting the wider energy industry on its transition path to a more sustainable future. This is a client facing role with the opportunity to develop and maintain strategic relationships with key broker producers and clients, as well as ensuring strong coordination and collaboration with internal partners. This role is focused on Offshore & Onshore Energy, but with potential to expand into other Energy lines whilst working towards achieving Underwriting authority.
 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support the Offshore & Onshore Energy Underwriting team in delivering a high-quality client service by taking ownership of the operational functions.

  • Learn to undertake responsibility for the internal processing of risks and working with the Underwriters to ensure accurate recording of data.

  • Build strong relationships with the wider Energy Underwriting teams across London and Zurich – including Products, Risk Engineering, Claims and Actuaries.

  • Record all new business, renewals, quotes and declinatures.

  • Provide assistance to Underwriters with all administrative duties – including pre-underwriting.

  • Collaborate closely with brokers and external stakeholders – including attending client/broker meetings and in negotiating terms.

  • Work within the Swiss Re guidelines paying close attention to ESG risk framework and implementing this into our portfolio.

  • Pre-underwriting work will include the analysis of Offshore & Onshore coverages including Property Damage, Control of Well, Business Interruption / Loss of Production Income and Construction All Risks exposures - and the associated wordings, premium and technical insurability of these risks.
     

About the Team 

 

We are a small, centralised and specialist underwriting team, based in London, reporting into the wider Global Energy division, with stakeholders located in Zurich, Houston & Singapore with a Global portfolio. Our target customers include Refining, Petrochemical, Exploration & Production and Drilling Contractors for their operational property damage & business interruption needs. The product offering includes US Gulf of Mexico Named Windstorm coverage, Offshore & Onshore Construction and Third Party Liabilities.

 

About you
 

We are looking for an ambitious, trustworthy and enthusiastic team player who is keen to build a career in Energy underwriting with an interest in the global energy transition. To be successful you need to have good interpersonal and communication skills as well as strong organisational and time management capabilities. This role requires a fast learner who approaches problems with curiosity and open-mindedness.

 

  • Minimum A level standard (or equivalent).

  • Experience in Energy Oil & Gas Insurance is preferred but not essential.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office.

  • Progression to ACII would be useful, but not essential.

  • Ability to constantly prioritise tasks. #LI-Hybrid
